Very warm welcome. Excellent friendly service provided by Ashley. Nice ambiance. We had the very tasty seafood chowder and the delicious, generous bruschetta. We appreciated the fresh, quality ingredients. The beers on tap were also very good.
We popped in here on a Monday evening and it was bustling and lively. We got a cute little table and ordered the mussels, calamari and the fetti-Chile. Everything was so good. Their bread and butter was also such a highlight. Service was great. We will definitely return soon.
I’m new to town and heard that Cafe Carlo had some of the best pasta in town so I decided to go in tonight and give it a shot. I went in and the place was full but I was ok with that since I prefer sitting at the bar anyway. I’m pretty go with the flow so I let the bartender guide me through the menu and let me know her favorites. I had the broccoli appetizer and then the seafood penne. Let me tell you, it was all so delicious. What impressed me more than the food though was the service, the three girls working were all just so nice and made me feel more welcome than I’ve felt anywhere since I’ve moved to town. Even one of the chefs came out and chatted for a bit and it was just really nice. The food definitely warmed my belly but the staff really warmed my heart. I will be back again and again.
As a frequent diner/supporter of local restaurants in Winnipeg: Decently priced ($200/3 people). Wine menu is lacklustre. Server Julie was extremely rude and acted like she wanted us to eat and leave within 60 minutes. Each time she approached our table she stood with a dirty look on her face as though we were wasting her time. I wanted to remind her that we didn’t choose her profession for her. She should consider a new career if she’s that miserable. Food was ok. Pasta dish was slightly over cooked noodles (sticky) in a flood of sauce. First visit there. Extremely underwhelming experience.
great food and awesome people..our Top 3 Pasta entrèe, Gnocchi pesto cream sauce, Seafood Penne and Fett Chile. we also the Bruchetta and Fried Chicken (with bacon jam). everthing we have ordered did not dissappoint.
Cafe Carlo has been consistently great to us. On our recent visit, we enjoyed the legendary Fett Chile along with some appetizers (the steak bites are excellent) and tiki cocktails.
This is one of our favourite go to restaurants to treat ourselves on special occasions! Last night was an exception to the usual great food. My husband had the gnocchi which never fails to be delicious and the chocolate oblivion was absolutely out of this world. Unfortunately my pesto chicken was more pesto than chicken. The pesto was a blanket on top of my chicken that was very very thick with little goat cheese content. I ended up scraping so much off just to find my chicken. Hoping next time is better or perhaps I will have to change up my selection.
