I usually have filet, which is always exceptional. This time I tried the burger, which was very good, just not the life-changing experience their steaks can be.
We enjoyed the steak special last night. The 22 ounce and sides were perfect for the two of us. Waitress was very attentive.

Steak and rest of food was if very high quality, which is what you come to expect for a place like Hyâs. Only real complaint was we felt this place seems to ânickel and dimeâ way too much for such a high end restaurant. There is no way they would do this in the Vancouver location. For example, we asked to split our kidâs pop into 2 glasses (I.e. since we only give them a little otherwise too much sugar) but instead we got charged $4.50 for a pop plus $1 refill charge. Thatâs totally unnecessary given we are not trying to take advantage and we actually ordered one of the most expensive steaks on the menu for our dinner. On top of that, the server mentions to us that he saw the note about us celebrating a birthday on my reservation, so he asks us whoâs birthday and if we want to see the dessert menu. Again, we got charged the full, overinflated dessert price even though our understanding was that they would provide a small complimentary dessert for the birthday girl (our daughter!) Little things go a long ways especially at high end restaurants but definitely not hereâ¦perhaps itâs more of a reflection of dining in Whistler in general vs Vancouver!
The dining experience was great. The food was absolutely delicious. The waiter, Marvin was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. His recommendations of appetizers were perfect for us. The mojito tasted very refreshing . The ambiance was everything I hoped it would be based on recommendations by family.
