Been next door at Ohyama and had their ramen dozens of times but only just managed to dine here for the first time. Wow! Have we been missing out... standouts were the Smoked Oshi sushi roll, Saba Misoni and Chicken Karaage!Dined early with our kids in tow and service was excellent with prompt delivery of all dishes. Will definitely be back again now we've finally experienced this gem of the Whistler dining scene!
This is my absolute most favourite place to eat dinner in the village. The food is delicious, and the sake margs are always a good time. Meg was an absolute legend when she served us - she was so accommodating and she helped move our party of 10 into a big booth instead of 2 separate tables. She was so kind and really made our night!!
Small, lively, fun! Good food. Not a massive menu, but everything was good. Nice to go for a casual meal in Whistler that is not pizza!
First the food. We had a miso soup and some sushis. The quality of the sushis was quite good while not exceptional. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Note that when you arrive, as in all other places, you need to show your proof of vaccine with id. For the purpose of this trip (and in order not to have to carry our wallet on the ski hills), I printed a plastic covered document with the vaccine certificate on one side and my driver's license on the other. In many restaurants, we were told that this was a clever idea. Not so in this place as the receptionist wanted nothing to do with it. she wanted a hard copy. My wife and i had our proof of vaccine on our phone but my wife did not bring her wallet and could not produce an original driver"s license. A scan copy of her license on her phone was no m ore acceptable than the photocopy. After insisting for some time, she finally let us in. Just be aware that you need a hard copy of your id. While they were overly strict on id, the young lady working at the bar (next to out table) was not wearing a mask the whole time that we were there.
This was our first time here and we had a great time. We've been to Izakayas in Japan and although this was a little bit faux-Tokyo, it successfully created the ambience that they were going for. Great food and drinks and good to have a change from the typical bar food that we tend to overdose on in Whistler!
Very cozy atmosphere and decor. Staff are friendly and attentive. Did arrived fast and everything tasted amazing!
We went here for dinner tonight. It was really disappointing and left us all quite upset. The food was mediocre and the service was HORRENDOUS! We ordered, ate, and left within 1 hr. We didn't want to order anymore food or be subjected to that service. Our server, Sigrid, was very short with us and every interaction had an undertone of disdain from the moment we got there. Couple of examples:1) She never did anything without making a snarky remark or action. She brought the wrong dish. Seemingly not believing us, she placed it on an empty table behind us and proceeded to check the order on her tablet to confirm it was indeed the wrong order. After this big show and realizing she was wrong, she didn't acknowledge the mistake whatsoever. I would expect a professional to take the dish to the kitchen and check the order there. She tried to shame us and it backfired.2) When my husband went up to the bar to pay for the bill (we all had to get out of there), she had to point out that she was making an exception by allowing him to pay at the bar. Nevertheless, the bill did not include an auto gratuity but she told my husband that he HAD to pay 18% when she handed him the credit card machine. That's fine but you could add it to the bill and don't imply that we're going to short you.It felt like she was racist and expected a bad tip from the start. A bad tip would have been warranted given the service. She was completely unprofessional and disrespectful the whole time. The menu leaves something to be desired. The tuna roll was ice cold and the rest of the food was lukewarm. I hope others have a better experience.
Our first time at harajuku, was recommended to us by a friend and we were really pleased. Casual atmosphere with super tasty food (the sweet mushroom bao are so good!) and the Japanese slipper cocktail was amazing. What made our experience above and beyond was the service we received from Lawrence (bar tender). Incredibly friendly and attentive, with a really positive energy. You really made our night, hope to see you again next time!
Terrible experience, ordered sushi roll and poke bowl. Got sushi and a bun. Also double salmon roll taste wired, never saw salmon and cream cheese combinations. Not tasty at all.
Crispy tuna roll was a rubbery mess, looked awful with rice falling apart. Salmon tuna sashimi was watery and lacked taste. The gyozas and Brussels sprouts were salty and the new saba dish was lackluster, not remotely Japanese at all. The kitchen cooks looked filthy and unhygienic. Lucky not to get an upset stomach.
