This is by far the best sushi place I have been to in the Victoria area. The service is always excellent and the food is fantastic. I have been going here for years and I have never been disappointed. Their rolls have a very generous amount of meat/fish in them, while other sushi restaurants skimp on the meat. I highly recommend Yoshi Sushi!
Food is ok. Too expensive for what you get. The service was terrible. We were seated and basically forgotten about. After we ordered, we got one of our dishes but no drinks, napkins or utensils. We were seated near the station they keep those at so we ended up getting it ourselves even though we waited for someone to ask.
Went the other night and had the 2 person sushi boat and a few other add ons. Service was good , friendly and decent food . The rice was a little hard but the sashimi pieces were quite generous . The place looked freshly updated as we had not been there for about 8 years .
An amazing Victorian institution. Love the sushi and the service. Also enjoy the private booths for bigger groups. The robata grill and sashimi are wonderful too.
My mother has ordered from this restaurant consistently for the last several years and has always said really positive things. We decided to treat ourselves this evening and spent over $100 on food. The tempura was extremely soggy and greasy, the California rolls were bland, gummy and primarily just rice. We ended up having to throw it away, it was so bad. My mother called to let them know what was going on. They remembered her because she has been a loyal customer for years but their only solution was to give her a measly little discount when she ordered her next meal which usually only totals around $15. They couldn’t even give her, her next meal with no charge. Really disappointed. She will be finding a new restaurant for sure.
My husband and I visited Yoshi sushi for a quick dinner after finding out big wheel burger's extremely long wait time (45 mins). We were seated right away and while waiting for our food, we enjoyed their little surving robot delivering foods in the hall. Foods came out pretty quickly, but the quality was just terrible. It was never the best quality and we didn't expect anything more than just usual small neighborhood Japanese restaurant, but tonight was the worst. Chicken karaage was more like fried chicken (with bones), miso soup was so salty, salad was sold out (not sure how a restaurant can sell out a salad?) and they gave us sunomono salad instead, which was already included in the dinner box. Rolls were so huge so I had to remove some rice from it and it was still too big. Toro Nigiris were okay. I don't think we are going back ever again.
We just shared the Lunch Boat A for 2 and were delighted with the flavours, the freshness and the light coming into the restaurant. We’ll be back!
Sadly I found the sushi to be very underwhelming. The Nigiri was a combination of very unattractive slices of fish atop a bed of the smallest bit of rice that battled to stay together and partly stuck to the cardboard takeout container. There are other sushi restaurants that serve better sushi for cheaper prices.
Most items were really good (i.e sushi and dinner boats)The udon was very disappointing. Noodles overcooked, broth tasteless, no accoutrements. Booths are nice and private with good leg space below tables for us less flexible people.
It's scary going to restaurants with Omicron raging but what could be better than masked staff and little private cubicles for your "bubble"!? We had the vegetarian dinner box, it was all good, excellent tempura and grilled vegetables, yummy ice cream to finish. Good prices. Staff were very funny and friendly!
