The tater tots and fried chicken are always a must-have! Love the cocktail menu and atmosphere. The service is always great.
Ummm - where do I even start?Decor - the whole restaurant is a vibe. The small patio is great for people watching, the front bar area is great for a busier feel, the back part of the restaurant is more intimate, then there is the back patio as well. It's astounding!Service - the staff is AMAZING. Very knowledgeable, very personable, and excited about the food and drinks. If you go multiple times (I've now gone five times in five months....) they actually remember you AND the chef makes you a new dish that is NOT on their menu!Drinks - their extensive wine, cocktail, and mocktail list is divine. I haven't had a bad glass of anything yet!Menu - Folks - their menu changes with the season AND what is available from their suppliers. Which means - it's all fresh. If you are going with two or more people (and you don't mind putting $79 pp) do the Chef's Tasting Menu. Not only is the food high quality, but you get 9 dishes (including a palette cleanser) for that price. It's all family style (all sharing) AND you get individual tongs for serving.Make a reservation and head down.You will enjoy it!!!
I suggest the TA algorithms are changed. This restaurant is definitely top 20 in Victoria. Great place, great setting, outside dining possible. Fantastic food, great service, good cocktails and a decent winelist. The squid and chicken dishes were just amazing. Wanted to have a dessert, but were too full. One small suggestion. Don’t dim the lights so much as it was hard to see the food.
Flawless! The service was impeccable, the food was amazing and the playlist was littered with soul classics. This little gem came as a recommendation and it exceeded expectations. Members of the team went out of their way to make our visit so memorable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Great cocktails
We were in the restaurant Wind cries Mary and decided to take the “can’t decide” option on thee menu: it was an excellent choice. In fact there were about 7 courses coming in 4 rounds in more than sufficient quantities. Moreover, this option made that you had sufficient time to really enjoy the food. Highly recommended!
What an incredible food experience... The staff are so knowledgeable about the food and menu, and the food itself makes my mouth water, even a day later.Great cocktails, large selection of wine and beer, and incredible atmosphere in this old bank... Would definitely recommend!
We had a great meal here, good combinations of flavours, highlights were the fried chicken and potato tops. 6 dishes and 2 desserts were fine four 4 of us and at a reasonable price. We had an outside table in the rear patio which was lovely, some of the inside spaces seemed a bit noisy and dark so I would recommend the patio in decent weather.
Wind Cries Mary is a charming restaurant that takes advantage of its unique old-world architecture in Bastion Square to give you a unique and cozy dining experience. The food is great for sharing, and the cocktails and wine list—while not extensive—provided the perfect complement to our meals.
You can never go wrong when you put yourself in the hands of a chef. The food was exceptional, the service was also exceptional, and the wine pairings with the chef offerings was absolutely delicious. Of the three places that we ate in Victoria on our short trip, this was definitely the best experience of them all.
