Easily the greatest Indian food inThis city. You can immediately tell that everything is made from scratch and in house too! Most places in this city serve butter chicken that taste like it was made from frozen ketchup. The butter chicken from Vij’s in Victoria tastes like it was served at the last dinner for Jesus, which ultimately killed him from such full and amazing flavour. It was gods plan to resurrect him for all eternity, but this butter chicken is so astounding that it overcame gods power and ended Jesus early. We’re left with the story that he was supposed to die After that dinner , but this is clearly made up to preserve the idea that nothing is more powerful than god, that is, until your lips meet this Masala Sauce.

What a bang for your buck! The big bowl and I had left over. Black chick pea curry was incredible. E-v-e-r-y item that came with our meal was so good! I will go back. Rice - wow, curry - wow, naan - wow, cucumber sauce - wow, salad - oh extra wow, pickled vegetables - wow. And I love that they use compostable take out containers. That gets extra points for me.

It is hard to find a meal for +/- $10 these days. Especially in Victoria. I ordered a little vegan 'butter chicken' curry not expecting much of a portion but it was a whole damn meal. Super impressed, what a pleasant surprise.

Don’t listen to wacko reviews about lack of flavor or customer service. This place is flat-out fantastic! Our party ordered pretty much the whole menu and NOTHING missed.Flavors are deep, layered and balanced in every dish…bringing some subtle southwestern and East Asian elements into play with traditional Indian ingredients with a high level of skill.Service was also fantastic. The two-person chef team was running both the back of the house and the front, as it’s a small place. Small or not, that’s a lot to handle at once. Nevertheless, they were attentive and checked on us and other guests frequently to see what we thought—seeking feedback like the legit culinary professionals they are. At one one point they must’ve overheard us complimenting the curry fries we were all stealing from my son, and brought us a small dish more of them.We visited on a cold rainy winter day, after lots of walking, and now have a great family food memory to take with us.Thanks to the Vij’s team!

This dining experience was the absolute highlight of my family's recent trip to Victoria. Crispy flaky delicious samosas as big as your fist come served with a tomato ginger chutney that was so perfectly balanced, we wanted to eat an entire jar of it on the spot. The butter chicken, blackened chickpea curry, and brisket curry were each phenomenal. We ordered the curry fries just to see what they are: they are crispy curry-infused thin-sliced potato wedges served with an array of dipping sauces that are each delightful. My whole family wants to come back from the States just to eat here again.

I've eaten here once and the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, there were several problems with my order and it was overall a frustrating experience.First, I did not get the Vegan 'Butter Chicken' I ordered, but a daal-like dish with lentils and chunks of veggies - it was nice, but there was no butter sauce or vegan chicken like I expected. Second, I did not get the naan I ordered and paid extra for.Lastly, I ordered online and got a time estimate of one hour (for pickup) but did not get any confirmation of my order being completed. When I finally called to check on it the staff indicated it had been ready for some time. It was barely warm when I picked it up. I raised the timing and lack of notification issues with the staff but they blamed Door Dash and said they couldn't do anything about it.Overall, the food was OK but this place seems disorganized and I am unlikely to return due to these inconveniences.

Wandered in here on a cold and rainy day for a hot cup of authentic chai. Given that we recently dined at vijs vancouver, we assumed this establishment would be quite delightful though we completely understand it is a different concept and a limited menu. But how do you get chai wrong at such a place?! The texture was weird but more over it wasn’t strained and so the longer it sat the more intense it got as cardamon continued to brew and float in black bits on top. We also tried the samosas, the presentation was bizarre as was the flavour, the chutney was also very odd. Nothing tasted good, left most behind, including the chai. Seems like a weak and unsuccessful attempt of fusion food or some sort if innovative modern take on Indian food that failed miserably. I’m shocked at all the positive reviews and that vij would attach his name. Two stars because the service was decent and friendly, they also serve unique local beer. Would definitely recommend vijs in vancouver.

Absolutely flavourless food. I was expecting a lot more flavour and some spices?? Doesn’t taste like Indian food. The Dahl is undercooked and has no seasoning. Samosa tastes like nothing as well. I’m very disappointed

Great customer service and this food looks amazing. Thanks guys
