make sure you stop by fisherman's wharf! cute lil restaurants right on the water...the food and drinks were great..and we were visited by the cutest Seal! in the water!
We had the gluten-free halibut fish and chips and the halibut fish tacos. Food was good and they took care in the preparation of the gluten-free food. Fresh and decent sized portions. Loved the location in Fisherman's Wharf.
Friendly Service. Fast and delicious. Glad we came here over the other fish stand. Quality seems higher and less greasy. Was disappointed to hear a few items were "sold out" despite being there within the first hour of opening. Ordered the more expensive oysters, but they were not distinguishable or better.
Hands down the best fish and chips in Victoria! Ate here first and then a few days later went to red fish blue fish… I don’t see the hype there because the fish store blew them out of the water!!
Great food, excellent beers, friendly people, perfect location.
We ate before going on a whale watching trip after having heard about this place. It was early evening so not too busy. We ordered the meals and sat on their covered dining area with a buzzer to advise when ready so knew they were fresh cooked. The best Halibut and Chips we had on our trip.
My fa~~~~~vorite seafood place in BC.I have to come at least twice every visit in Victoria. No frozen seafood it's fresh! So yummy ?
My husband and I waited in the huge line and it was worth it. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient in moving the line. The ambiance is great on Fisherman's Wharf and The Fish Store's partially enclosed rustic waterfront seating area is cool too. I had the cod and chips which was so fresh and creamy. I've had lots of cod in my life but none as fresh and delicious as this. My husband had the halibut and chips and he was not disappointed. The fish was so good that it did not need tarter sauce BUT...their tarter sauce is YUMMY. So good you can eat it on it's own. We're from Ontario and you can't get fresh fish there, even when it's advertised as fresh! We spent 2 weeks on Vancouver Island and had lots of seafood but The Fish Store had the best. Prices are similar to other places in Victoria. We highly recommend this place.
Our harbour taxi guide recommended this spot as the fried items have a lighter batter than other places on Fisherman’s Wharf. They have happy hour specials on oysters. Chowder with 3 types of salmon was great.
I know that salmon is king in Canada but wow the halibut was delicious. The halibut soup was tomato based with no shell fish in stock. It was flavorful and spicy but the flavor of the delicate fish was retained. Have the halibut taco, salmon taco, halibut sandwich. Sit outside on the shared tables eating fish and drinking beer. The price was also excellent mainly because there is less overhead. I will dream of that bowl of soup.
