I have enjoyed this restaurant a few times before. We’re back in town after 2 1/2 years and we’re shocked at the shabby condition of the place. Everything from the furnishings , trims and ‘decor’ needed attention. We wondered if the quality of the food had also declined so turned around and walked out. From the other reviews I’ve read this has been mentioned for a while. I wonder if the lost business (not just of ours but of others as well) would have paid for the improvements needed in the seating area and communicated care for their patrons. We headed back into town and enjoyed an excellent meal at a competitor’s place. The food was delicious and the decor was pleasant. We’ll peek in next time to see if things have improved.
The best Indian food eveeeer, prices are amazing, so many options. The service staff is always so hopeful and has great recommendations. Literally eat here every week.
First place I went to eat in Victoria and was really pleased with the experience. I've had a lot of Indian food at different restaurants and this place would near more toward the top of the list. I had a coconut beef curry, and my girlfriend had a classic butter chicken. Both tasted different bit equally delicious. We also got the garlic rosemary and garlic cheese naan and they were definitely worth the extra price. They were both generously portioned, hot, buttery, and tasted great. I'm a big eater and even the portion size was good for me. Shout-out to the girl who served us, was incredibly polite and even offered us free chai which also tasted great. the only thing was the lighting was extremely dim, and we actually had to use a flashlight to see our food lol.
Service was nice, food tasty but the space and condition of the furniture is... Embarassing... The once upon faux leather from chairs is pretty much gone and you can see the white undercoat with EXTREMELY scrubbed off pieces of brown leather (I should have taken a picture I can't even describe how bad they are!). I would be so embarrassed to seat customers in those chairs if I were a hostess/server in that place. They literally look like something that was picked up from the curb with the FREE sign on them. Surely not the main point of the restaurant but quite off putting and makes you wonder what else is in a desperate repair need our there.
The reason I give 1 star is because the portion of butter chicken was very small, few pieces of chicken and sauce and on top of that we did not receive any rice x2. Not worth $36. We were so disappointed because we were so hungry after ordering and it's a shame because the flavor was actually quite good but overall the experience is 1 star because after I called Sizzling Tandoor to inform them of their mistake they did not offer proper delivery or a full refund.

Ordered Butter Chicken (mild medium) and 2x veggie pakoras through DoorDash. Butter chicken was alright, nothing special. Pakoras we're subpar: Dry, bland, extremely doughy, and cold. Likely the worst or second worst pakoras I’ve ever had. Overall, not happy with our meal, which is further compounded by their rather small portion sizes.

I had the Curried Beef in a Pomegranate sauce, it was absolutely sublime. I highly recommend this lovely gem of a restaurant. As well Monday is 1/2 price Butter Chicken which is also delectable.
