We were looking forward to our anniversary dinner here. The service was good. The seating was good. And if you like rice with a bit of fish flavoring on top, you'll love this place. We prefer a bit more fish in our sushi dinners. We ordered quite a bit with our tab over $100, and if there was more than 2 oz of fish between our two meals I'd be shocked. Lots and lots of rice, though. Did NOT look like the pictures. (Maybe it was because it was Monday and they ran out of fish from the weekend? Who knows. We won't be back to find out)Overall experience: Meh.
Had a great Birthday dinner with my friends tonight, friendly staff, perfect service and great food. The cocktails were absolutely amazing, everything was just so fresh and delicious.
not good. Soft crab shell is $18 but only 5 very small crab shell and the test was very bad. And the test of Unagi Don in stone-bowl also not good.
Really good food, I enjoy going there. The service is also fine. Might be pricey however the quantity is satisfying. Sometimes it is crowded and they might ask you to have a sit outside which is not very comfortable even with the heating.
This is my new favourite sushi spot whenever I visit Victoria. Great fresh ingredients, amazing presentation. Stellar service. They also offer omakase. Great sake list. Now if they would only serve natto, my life would be complete.Update: we returned to this place for omakase. Bear in mind that I used to live in Japan and currently live in Vancouver where we have a lot of Japanese restaurants, so I was expecting a multi course meal. We were presented with a choice in $50, $70 and $120 price points. We chose $120, got an amazing sashimi platter as our first course. As we finished the platter, we realized that there wasn’t anymore food coming. The platter was $120 (not $120 per person). So if you are looking for a true omakase experience where you get multiple courses (selection of hot and cold foods), this may not be the place for you.
My new favourite sushi bar, the food and quantity and price were superb for lunch.
This was our first stop in Victoria and one our favourite meals. The scallop ceviche and beef tartar were exceptional. The patio was quiet in the afternoon so no reservation was needed. Te staff were polite and fast
It was raining and this place was next door from our Airbnb, and we haven't had japanese food in a while, so why not.Nice modern decor, we sat at the bar, as we usually do. The bartender was excellent, she helped us with our order, turned us on to some local wines - and Choya plum sake - and was just a lot of fun.The food was delicious, the glass noodles with crab was great, and so was the sushi.Overall a great evening.
3 stars. Sushi is great and cocktails are even better!!! The duck however I do not recommend, duck was so tough and the tortilla's were soggy. Ordered more sushi to make up for it. Pricey bill but we left satisfied
Very popular spot. Busy, loud, and very poor service. No combo sets outside of lunch hours. Baby scallop was good, Ebi average, Toro a waste of money. Black Dragon Roll was great. Lunch combo set looks like a good value, and would consider trying Nubo Tapas up the street. Would not return to the kitchen though.
