We had lunch here one day and the fresh made sandwiches made of various ingredients are wonderful . Another morning we stopped for coffee & pastries and it was wonderful too. Prices are cheaper than many places. Fast service, although there's almost always a line to order. Indoor & outdoor seating
Everyone knows that Murchie's has an incredible array of absolutely delicious treats, but they're store next door offers sells the tea they've been blending since the 1800s. If you like excellent, traditional British tea, this is where it can be found. Their Murchie's afternoon tea is what used to be served at the Empress before it was "modernized" and Queen Alexandra's portrait removed. I'm very happy that it's still available at the store. It's available to drink at the counter and it really is an outstanding black tea for those who take their tea seriously.
Had a nice breakfast sandwich in the surprisingly-uncrowded cafe in the morning, but it gets crowded later on. I came back later and picked up some good-looking tea. Lots of different kinds, including teapots, sampler packs, and hot chocolate varieties as well.
6 STARS. You have to come here when in Victoria! Better than Empress in my opinion…soo many options of cakes, pastry, sandwiches/ melts and coffee and tea. Big space and comfortable environment. Super AFFORDABLE. The same slice of cake would’ve cost double in Toronto.Chocolate passionfruit cake - it’s now my favourite cake of all times. It was recommended by the staff and I’m so glad I got it! Milk mouse with passionfruit mouse, crunchy chocolate and caramel bottom, with a touch of white chocolate on top.Strawberry tart - the best tart I’ve had. Strawberries were sweet and the custard and butter were light with thin layer of chocolate.Chocolate mouse cake - really sweet and rich, melted in my mouth. High quality chocolate. Can be a tad too sweet though.Tina melt - rich in ingredients and favours. I wouldn’t get it again, though.Chicken pot pie - we loved it, it tasted homemade and fresh.
We came here for lunch while visiting Victoria and the place is a whole lot bigger that it looks from the outside. There is a long food counter, a large area to shop for coffee and tea items and several areas to sit and eat. We came here a couple times. They only offer a couple salad items that are gluten free, so I bought them. They were good, but the marinade on the tomato cheese salad tasted a little off. The Greek salad was good, but had a lot of different colored peppers in it and not much else. I enjoyed the fruit salad. We had the Cowboy Sandwich a couple times. Pizza once, a tomato cheese tart. bruschetta and a couple very good desserts. Lattes are very good here. There are a huge selection of pizza, sandwiches and desserts to chose from. Lots of staff and everyone so friendly. I even bought several things in the gift shop.
Fantastic place to have a quick lunch. Ordered a sandwich, a pastry and the lavander tea. The sandwich was delicious and the tea was great too. The place is busy but the food comes out quickly.
I have been here several times it is conveniently situated in downtown Victoria. They have very nice snacks and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. Prices are reasonable and the service is good. People are friendly. There is enough seating but sometime the place is very busy. Especially, for lunch. They also sale coffee and tea. I bought Darjeeling tea here. It is a Darjeeling Estate tea. This tea has excellent flavour.I have not found anything better. It is not cheap but priced fairly.
Lovely cafe with great view. Good place to take a short break and enjoy the European style building and the downtown. Recommend for tourists
Be prepared to stand in line for this popular place, but it is well worth the wait! The displays cabinets are filled with lots of options, the signage is easy to read, the staff are friendly and the food is delicious!!
We had scones and tea lattes to start our morning, then after went and bought some tea for taking home. The scones were delicious, and the flavours of our lattes were lovely. They had quite an excellent selection of teas and related items in the shop, and we found just what we were looking for. This is a must-see place in Victoria, so don't miss it!
