It was our first time at this restaurant - it's in the heart of Chinatown. My young son and I ordered the traditional meals and were disappointed when they did not arrive on the big trays (as shown on the website and at the table) - instead, it was just a bowl with all the ingredients already in it which dampened the fun eating experience. It was only when I asked about it that we were told that one has to order it by 6:30 pm at the latest (the waitress did apologize for that). We also had their pan fried dumplings. The food was delicious. Do not wear a nice top when having their soups - their chopsticks are smooth and the noodles are round (not flat), so some splattering lol! They were open till 8 pm, but they started turning away customers around 7:15 pm. We would definitely go again the next time we're in Victoria.
Very nice place for good Chinese food. The dumplings were great and the service was great too. We ate dinner here and it was quite crowded. Reasonably priced
Love this restaurant in the middle of Chinatown. There’s a large variety to the menu; we got the signature bridge crossing noodles which was good for two people to share. We also ordered the spicy wontons and some dumplings. The wontons were really spicy but exceptionally good. Service was also fantastic and attentive (the server kept bringing tea and water bc I was going through it so quickly!)
Really excellent food. We had the traditional crossing the bridge and the seafood. Both were amazing and had a bunch of ingredients I'd never heard of before. Definitely delicious. Also tried the healthy juice. Tasted like a strawberry white wine, it was very nice. They were out of the fish ball soup I wanted to try but that wasn't a big deal at all. Next time I would try the cold pigs ears because that sounds exceptionally interesting.Just barely knocking off a star for the service. Fairly quick seating but it did take almost 15 minutes to receive a menu. There were only two servers on that night and it was quite busy. They were very obviously stressed and running around. If I went again I'm sure I would amend my review to 5 stars. The waitresses could have just used an extra hand :)
The food was so great and the price of it is reasonable. It is also good for a whole family to have dinner or lunch here. I like the decoration and music playing in this restaurant as well. I really enjoyed the delicious broth and rice noodles in this restaurant and the waitresses told me that it took around 8 hrs for them to make the broth every day!More importantly, although there were full of people in the restaurant when I was eating, the waitresses tried their best to bring the drink and food for me as soon as possible. There were just two waitresses and almost all of the tables were full, so I think they already provided their best service and all of the customers in the restaurant also waited for them patiently and didn’t rush them. What a nice place and people here were happy. I would definitely come here and enjoy other dishes soon!100% recommend!!:)
Not a big fan of the "crossing the bridge" noodles but A BIG FAN of all the other traditional Yunnan dishes we tried: Cured beef, spicy braised chicken, sweet and sour marinated veggies, spicy seaweed, etc. We love those and will be back. The restaurant was quite popular that it ran out of food 1h30 before the closing time.
Good food and the best service whether dining in or take out! Soup is very tasty. There are many people dining at noon, but still provide excellent service. I love the free tea. Good choice for fast food.Looking forward to my next meal here!?
I was excited to try this family owned restaurant in Chinatown in June 2022. I was even more excited to see that they offered several vegetarian and vegan alternatives. I didn't think I'd get to try the Across the Bridge Noodles, but they offer a vegetarian version (can be made vegan if you ask for vegetable broth and don't take the quail egg). We ordered the vegetarian Across the Bridge Noodles, pork ribs noodle soup, and fried fungus (fried then preserved in oil). The food was quite delicious. I was happy to have some hot broth on a cold rainy day. HOWEVER, service was atrocious. The servers were trying hard, but they were clearly inexperienced and lacking service skills. We never got any water nor the tea we ordered. The table next to us at least got glasses, but the man got up and grabbed a water pitcher from the serving station to fill them up himself. My Across the Bridge Noodles broth and ingredients were brought to the table, but they forgot the noodles. I had to ask for them when a server finally passed by, then stop her when she forgot who they were for and walked them past me several times. One server tried to clear our table before we were finished eating (we were not there for a long time, we finished and left before most of the tables who were there before us). The servers turned some customers away at the door saying they were too busy/closing soon, but then said nothing when other customers (tired of waiting to be addressed) sat themselves down. When the bill came, we had to remind them to remove the items they forgot. They were never mean nor rude, just really bad at waiting tables. It's a shame because I wanted to like this place. I would've given it 3 stars for the food alone, but it wasn't delicious enough to compensate for the poor experience (and disappointed boyfriend).N.B. As a Chinese Canadian, I'm used to small village restaurants so I wasn't expecting to be asked how I was enjoying my evening or whether I wanted dessert. This was just bad service. I at least get tea and my full order at the hole in the wall restaurants abroad.
I had 1/2 hour free before a meeting downtown, stepped into Little Yunnan for lunch my first ever visit. The good reviews I read overtime surely a big incentive to try this intriguing looking place. Overall not great, not cheap, not worth the try. Very salty hand made won ton soup, very salty meat dish, good steam rice. Not balanced flavors, below average to my taste. I wish I could say that it was my fault or lack of sophistication but I can't. Although the quality of Victoria's Chinese food is deteriorating for a long time Little Yunnan has not broken the spell.
Wait 30 minutes to have food on the table ,food is ok Can not accept the waiting time Should plan well for busy hour
