The food was disappointing - we were so disappointed. We've been waiting a long time to go out for dinner and we had serious expectations. The JV has always been good - very good - from the service to the ice cream - but last night - after almost 2 years of waiting - we were bummed out.All I can say is it will be another 2 years before we go back.
Great value, great experience, friendly staff, you get so much food and it’s all delicious!
Son and his mother's favourite place to go. The staff is always cheerful and put on a show for the young ones. We go twice a year for birthdays.I personally do not enjoy it as much as the other 2. The rice and steak sauce is fantastic, however I find that the teriyaki sauce usually tastes burnt on the protein. With the raised prices I also find it is almost overpriced for the whole experience. If visiting Victoria I would recommend it, if you have been before nothing has changed except they now have Tofu.
The food was delicious, however the experience was a bit rushed, especially if you are like me, who is looking for a relaxed meal and after a few drinks.I did not even have a chance to enjoy the tea, I ordered after my meal, as a table of six we were told to leave rudely because the table was booked, leaving a sour memory after spending quite a bit of money to enjoy the experience. To bad, truly it felt like a factory!!
The table chef did a great job very personable. It will be nice for them to get back to full capacity and have their sushi items added back to the menu.
Me and my family waited uptil 9 pm for reservations at which point we were very hungry and ready to eat. The host at the front was very combative and would not let us in because one out of the 6 people in my family's dinner parties vax passports wouldn't scan. We had been to at least 6 restaurants in Victoria over that weekend with no problems scanning it. Very rude and unhelpful service.
We couldn’t believe the Google review that is 4.4 because it doesn’t match the reputation. We had a great day until we came to this restaurant. We ordered a premium combo, which includes steak, scallops, and prawns. We were informed that prawn wasn’t available, so we had to downgrade to shrimp with extra scallop. The smelly and sour fillet steak ?. The service, humm, hard to communicate with the waitress. Here is our experience with the restaurant manager:We asked about the quality/freshness of the fillet steak as we tasted sour. The manager came and STRONGLY SUGGESTED to eat again with their “freshly cooked” fillet. We said no about four times. But eventually, she expected our feedback. She said, “We trust our customers.”This time, with their freshly cooked fillet, not only does it taste sour, but it tastes bitter! We feel sick after trying it, but she continues to recommend it to us.After hearing our opinion, she said, “all chief tried it and they found it fine. Is it because you haven’t tasted any fillet steak before?”Oh my god. Can you believe it? The restaurant manager tells you that is because you haven’t tried it before, that’s why the smelly fillet tastes sour and bitter. We feel that we were treated like we don’t know much. She even said that the majority of Asians order New York steak only, that’s why it could be UNIQUE to us. ?️Eventually, we paid full price + 15% off. Oh, the fillet was an extra order. Not very fair.
I was quiet excited to visit after hearing good things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, I was booted out pretty quickly as soon I entered the premises. I asked to do a takeout but the person at the reception rudely responded that they don't do takeout and all the dining area is filled up. I had seen friends do takeouts from the restaurant and dining area looked quite empty.I was mostly appalled by the sheer arrogance of the receptionist that made me and my family feel unwelcome. Obviously, we won't be ever going back.
Japanese Village is one of my father-in-law's favourite restaurants. We like to take him whenever possible for special occasions. Not only is the food always delicious, the talented chefs provide an impressive and memorable performance as they cook. The service is top notch. Highly recommend.
Fun and engaging teppanyaki restaurant. Cook was very sensitive to my party's dietary needs, and the gentle ribbing and jokes were greatly appreciated by all. Highly recommend!
