We came back to The Flying Otter several times as the Halibut burger with a gluten-free bun was awesome! The staff were all knowledgeable about gluten-free and celiac preparation. The halibut was grilled separately and the gluten-free bun held up (didn't crumble). You order, pay first then are given a number and go find a place to sit. We came at many different times and never had an issue finding somewhere to sit. The regular halibut fish and chips were also good. The coleslaw was good too. A great restaurant with safe, gluten-free options. Down on the water, lots to take in and enjoy as well. We happily went back during our week in Victoria!
We ordered the fish and chips and chowder and found it delicious. Our first time trying clam chowder and now we are hooked on it. Ordering, paying and then finding a table was a little different but it wasn't crowded when we were there and didn't have any issues. Server was very friendly and food was hot! We sat outside and it was an enjoyable lunch.
The food, price and service was great. Would go there again on my next visit to Victoria
This was a recommended spot and I was pretty disappointed. Waited for over 40 mins for food and came out cold. Staff didn’t really care and took another 10 minutes to get something warm.
The mussels and halibut burger were great! Overall good food and nice service.
Great food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Not much seating space, and also ordering & paying upfront is not really convenient (especially if you want to add to your order later, you need to line up again). But again, the food was really good so they're getting 5 stars. ?
Food tasted amazing and portions were big especially the seafood. Great customer service! A must-try seafood restaurant when in YYJ downtown area!
This used to be a great restaurant until they changed it to no table service any more. You now have to go in and order off a board, pay and then go and find a table. 3 things that were on the board they did not have. Our meal was terrible and had to go back as it was also cold. We have been going there for years. No more.
While walking in the downtown waterfront area we went to the Flying Otter for dinner. It is a great location down on the harbour watching the sea planes & water taxis coming & going. A little different set up with placing your order at the counter & then everything is delivered to your tables. Tried their local brew of Flying Otter lager which was very enjoyable. Good variety of food selections & upon delivery of our orders a good size portion & food of good quality. Service was friendly, courteous & attentive. Quite a busy location with their patio full & many other patrons sitting along the bar. Enjoyed our meals, drinks & would recommend to any tourists to stop in & enjoy the atmosphere & drinks.
23 dollars for a plain cheeseburger and fries is the most expensive in Victoria, its only 19 at the blue crab where you have great table service: not at flying otter where you have to order inside and take a number for your table and then go back if you want another drink , bad experience
