There is no comparison to Fig. This is the only place that I will go for a long list of delicious things.Try the spanakopita, tabbouleh, olive bread that is out of this world, hummus, halva, olives... Oh gosh! Just try everything!!The owner is a wonderful man who never fails to make you feel welcome and he will advise you on the perfect ingredient for just about anything you may be making.I could go on and on. I love this place.Go get some fresh delicious food and have a picnic somewhere.
Quality might be declining. I bought a few items for lunch yesterday and ended up throwing them into the compost this morning. Spanakopita was very tasteless and spinach almost black. The chicken samosa was equally bland and didn't taste fresh. We were most disappointed in 4 pieces of baklava that were soaked in some kind of grease I do not recognize...not honey, maybe not even cane sugar. the nuts were not fresh and they were COLORED GREEN. Nobody colors their food unless it is low quality. The only thing that was up to previous quality was the fatoosh pasta salad. I had to clear my throat for hours after eating the baklava. Of huge concern is when I asked the young lady behind the counter if it was pistachio she said yes. I asked 'any other types of nuts?'. She said no. Actually it was a bunch of different types of nuts, all bland and tasteless and all coloured green. Possibly NO pistachios at all. Maybe employees should take this a bit more seriously for those who have allergies.
One of a kind in Victoria. Excellent selection of deli items, cheeses, speciality grocery items you will not find elsewhere, at prices very much better than other stores. First stop for olive oil, vinegars, roasted red peppers, pitas, dips, bocconcini, anchovy filets, capers, feta all cheaper than grocery stores. Great, fresh and high quality sumac. And don't get me started on the orange cake. Not as familiar with hot food items as I actually haven't eaten them more than once - was very good that time and large portions- I expect they are all very good.Worth a visit just for the walnut spread...
One of Victoria's best deli stores. Great selections of everything Mediterranean, lots made/baked onsite. The service is cheerful and just very friendly. One of my favourite stores.
Great little shop! Awesome deli selection and delicious food. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Amazing selection of Mediterranean groceries too. I'll be back. Thank you!
Wonderful specialty deli featuring a broad selection of Mediterranean foods. Our favourites include their selection of olives, the goat and sheep feta, spinach pies, and baklava. Have an espresso coffee on the patio while eating your baklava.
This an absolute gem of a shop. Small, well stocked and well priced grocery items which are often hard to find or overpriced at local big chain stores. Their deli selections are excellent and make for a wonderful lunch or dinner of no cooking. I was so happy that they managed to stay open during the measures of the past 2 years and delight in supporting this locally owned spot.
After a day of exploring Victoria we needed a quick bite to eat with the kids. We were so happy to stumble across this gem! Delicious take out food and also a very well stocked little Mediterranean store. Balsamic vinegars, olive oils, you name it.We had the spanakopita and the lamb. Delicious!!!
The best Tiramisu on the planet! Along with best hummus, feta, locum (Turkish Delight). Oh and real Greek (Turkish) yogurt not sweet, straight from Ontario! Don't forget to try the donair and dozens of other fresh items. The packaged items are also very unique to the Island.
The market part is amazing and has all sorts of cool and authentic items - so you get lots of stars there - BUT!We came for shawarma and it was by far the worst shawarma I have ever had. I have eaten chicken shawarma at so many places over the years but this was nearly inedible. The chicken was soggy somehow and basically tasted like vinegar. So hard to describe - it’s like they refried it with a super vine that based light sauce so the taste was terrible and the consistency was mushy. No garlic sauce or tahini type sauce left it very, very dry and impossible to eat. Had to make my own tahini sauce at home just to be able to get it down. Please fix this - I want to love this place so badly but this was a huge put off.
