Decor, art, building were all beautiful. We went for the happy hour oysters and noticed shell particles in the oysters, and they weren’t the freshest, but still edible. Service was cold and impersonal, as others have noted. Overall, a cute spot for a quick drink and worth it for the old Victoria charm, but there are better options food and service wise in the city!
The server with light blonde hair & British accent was so unbelievably rude, took forever with absolutely everything, and provided the very minimum service to us. When another table of white people walked in, her demeanour, tone, and attitude totally changed for their table. Racist service. Will never return. This place took a serious turn to the dumps after the original owner passed away. RIP Tom.
I went there with my friend for lunch. We ordered burgers and yam fries on the side. The yam fries were $5 extra and they were in dark brown colour, old and very dry. I couldn’t believe they serve this type of food at a restaurant. I brought it up to the server and they didn’t charge me for the fries. But later my friend told me that they still charged the fries to her lol You served such poor quality food and took off the price from only one person’s bill.
I adore this restaurant and visit every time I am in Victoria. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable. The food is outstanding - especially the mussels, but honestly everything we have tried has been phenomenal. We especially love the outdoor patio. Have always had great service, they make you feel welcome like a local neighborhood pub. Other places come and go but this is one of the classic Victoria dining experiences for me.
Delicious spicy Korean chicken sandwich. With Raspberry lemonade made a nice lunch.
The server with long light blonde hair, dropped food onto my clothing, the table and floor. She said she would come back, and never did. It's understandable to accidentally drop something, but it's totally unprofessional to never come back with napkins to clean up and not replace the missing dish and not apologize. We had several servers switch out serving us, I am not sure who was assigned to our table. The male server we had at the end was fine, the female blonde server who dropped the food was one of several people bringing our dishes to the table. She was disrespectful and should not have disappeared after making a mess. We were also charged for the dropped dish that we did not eat and was not replaced and we had to ask to have it taken off the bill at the end. It was a mix of people switching off who was serving our table, so we did not even know who to ask, because she was supposed to come back. I understand mistakes happen but it was not fixing it that was the problem. I will never go back to Ferris Grill and will tell others I know not to eat here. I like the food but the service was awful and there are other restaurants to eat at downtown.
Just celebrated my 75th with BFF and happy to report that all was great at this well regarded bastion of good times. Service was exceptional and the Happy Hour menu delivered elevated fare at 'old tyme' prices lol. Yep, oysters were small but fresh and bright, the tempura prawns light and crunchy delicious AND the Portobello mushroom /pecan pate was sick good. ❤
I've been here a few times before an always loved it. Not so this time. The food was below a 5 (both dishes) and i couldn't tell you how the oysters were because we never got them (server forgot) and no effort at all to make up for it. So, service was also sub-par.
My partner and I got the dine around Victoria menu. I got the elk carpaccio, the bison flatiron and cake. It was great, the flatiron was super juicy and tender, my partner got the trout and thought it was fantastic as well
Great service and the oysters were delicious but the mains are lacking. Rice was overcooked and the bouillabaisse was mainly mussels , onions and some peppers, two shrimp and about 3 clams. So quantities are not impressive for the price.
