The Assistant Manager of this place is incredibly bubbly and friendly. Excellent service from her to solve my almond milk splitting in the coffee problem and affecting the taste. Previously, her colleague had not been so friendly or helpful, even advising me, 'we normally charge' for heating up milk, rather than correct the problem. Delicious donuts too!

I should have heeded the warnings of other reviews; staff seem genuinely disinterested in being there, no urgency to maintain a reasonable pace with pouring coffee but empower themselves to micromanage your mask positioning. Also don't honour the PHO re: Exemptions. And why the hell am I required to show a "Health Pass" for counter service!? Shameful! I will happily pay "extra" to support local businesses in lieu of the chains... I'll seek out another independent that will take my money instead.

My first impression… Wow! Love your donuts!!! I don’t think I’ll get donuts anywhere else now ….I need to try the muffins.Coffee is tasty. And the music choices was excellent for a Friday morning pick me up between meeting my customers:)

Extremely disappointed with their immoral decision to ask Vax pass to sit inside when that is not even required by P Health Officer. This particular so-called vaccine does not reduce any viral transmission risk to others. Therefore, it is not protecting others at all.It is publicly stated so in peer reviewed papers, CDC, Dr.Fauci the list goes on... So you simply decided to just decided to discriminate people non-health safety issue. I try my best to support any local business all the time. But not Discovery coffee. DO NOT SUPPORT a local business who act just like any other mega corporate scums.

Great coffee and tea selections. The service is always pleasant and friendly. At the Menzies location in James Bay, there is limited low seating for wheelchairs. Parking is available but nothing is designated as wheelchair parking. There is a level access to the shop but the door is not automatic. One issue is that all the food offerings are overly sweet with glaze and/or icing. If you have a sweet tooth (which I do not!), you'll love it.

We had never been to a discovery coffee before today. We were in the area in James Bay.We had masks on ( of course because that's the "law" these days) but apparently the girl behind the plexiglass shielded counter felt that mine wasn't on to her approval. It was covering my mouth and nose, however I feel she was targeting me because my mask says "forced to wear this". Now of course my mask will be pulled up properly because I want the message visible! She asked me to pull my mask up. As I said, it was covering my nose and mouth. I stated that. We ordered our coffee and doughnuts. I was sitting down waiting. She came to give us our drinks. Again she asked me to pull up my mask! It was up. I said, actually I'm sitting down and your sign says you can take your mask off while sitting or sipping so I took my mask off and stated her sign to her. She said " please don't yell at me for doing my job".Well the last time I checked, her job was to serve coffee and doughnuts not nit pick at customers who are WEARING MASKS! Then she said if we sat we have to show a vax pass?? Are you kidding? Vax passes are for sit down table service that serve food only!! Discovery coffee has caffeine and doughnuts! Not even sandwiches! We WILL NEVER RETURN to a discovery coffee shop again. Even when covid is done and restrictions are gone, we won't forget how we were treated. We will also be sharing this experience with many people. I'm sorry that your company is so loyal to the illegal government mandates that you are making up your own rules and disregarding human rights.Shame on you.

Denied my son the use of the bathroom and asked us to leave even though I explained I had a medical exemption to not wear a mask. Hope people remember your choices to act inhumane.

Fabulous local coffee shop. This is my favourite place to buy espresso beans for my machine at home. They also care Yonni's donuts which are phenomenal.

Great coffee and donuts, and used to be one of my go to places, but unfortunately the James Bay location is just poorly run and badly managed! Previous review also sums it up as well! Every other coffee shop/indoor dining (in the city) have been open now for some time and don't have their customers lining up outdoors like an assembly line! Unfortunately, small enterprises like this really shouldn't be in business in my opinion. In addition their ridiculous setup, they still don't take cash? Is that even legal? Definitely not recommended! Go to Good Earth just a few steps away instead. Like seriously, wake up and smell the coffee!I've edited my review to 3 stars now due to the fact Discovery Coffee has finally opened their doors to customers!

Forced gratuity. (They trick most) Slow as hell. Understaffed. Espresso not the best. This place is over rated....refuse cash.....and terrible pastry selection.Redbarn coffee is amazing.......so I switched after 3 days of giving them a chance. The essence of gratuity.....is that it is a one way gracious act of apretiatation.....especially for those servers that try a bit harder..... its not like they are serving a table of 10. Indoor seating is closed. Just another deceiteful scam on hard working Victorians.Clearly American owned.
