Best Fried Chicken in Victoria!We were driving around the area today (7/13) and for the first time, we decided to try this restaurant called Chicken 649 that people have been raving about.We ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 meal. This came with The Original Crispy chicken and The Yang Nyeom (Korean Chicken:Just enough Spiciness) ??So Yummy!The Filipina behind the counter (I forgot her name ?) was very Professional, Helpful and Friendly. She even helped out an older gentleman to pick up some of his change, that he had dropped while He was eating his dinner.This place is a bit small and can be crowded at times, but it is a hidden gem.
Chicken ? 649 is a very unique restaurant.It was my first time trying the Lunch special and I was really impressed by the cooking and the process of how the chicken thighs and wings were cooked.Cooked in a batter which is a truly unique recipe, the chicken tasted very delicious alongside the complimentary ketchup and mayonnaise sides that came with the order.When I ordered the lunch special, it came with 6 pieces of chicken alongside 6 or more potato wedges.The chicken and the potato wedges tasted very delicious, I was very impressed.I will definitely be back to Chicken 649,To satisfy my chicken craving.
I purchased the lunch special. Great food prepared quickly and a lot of it for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend.
Likely the best take- away fried chicken in town. It's always busy; I suggest phoning ahead or order online. I've had the Original many times and it is crunchy salty yummy. I tried the spicy gooey Yum Yum recently and my friends and I agree it's fabulous! Make sure you order enough for left overs.
If you want deep fried batter then that's what you get. Oily tasty goo with a bit of chicken. Since I couldn't find much chicken in my first bite as the batter was overwhelming I thought I would take apart two pieces of their chicken to see how much was batter and bone versus chicken meat. Say 60 to 70% is batter with bone and 30 to 40% is chicken.
Wow. What a place! Honestly, I have had fried chicken many times, and I love to seek out the best stuff I can find. This one definitely rates amongst the best you can buy! It is phenomenal. We got everything off the menu, the greens salad was great, the coleslaw was awesome, the pickled radish (daikon) was super good, and the corn salad was okay (too sweet for my taste). The chicken is crunchy and yet moist, and was definitely worth the 25 minute wait. Once again, phenomenal!!!!

My favorite place in Victoria to eat, and not just fried chicken. I love the people, the location, the food, the prices. I look forward to sitting down and eating but takeout is also great. 10/10 , 5 stars, and every other glowing rating under the sun.
