My partner and I dropped in while on a recent trip to Victoria. Our wait for a space was not too long, the hostess was “on it” and we finally settled in a place at the bar. The bartender was incredibly engaging and made some amazing margaritas. We did have a few. The food was great and the atmosphere had a great vibe. Other than a rogue waitress spraying some disinfectant right at my partner - accidentally but still upsetting - it was a great night. We will definitely return.
This restaurant has all the usual Mexican dishes we expect; tacos, burritos and quesadillas.The corn chips and salsa were spot on. My friend had the quesadilla and I had a Ensalada de casa which was delicious! I love rice and beans and had an order of that. We would have ordered the churros for desert but we were very full. The margarita was excellent and with the happy hour price, affordable. The staff from the greeter to our server were very good. The washrooms were clean which is something people often overlook. A big enough place, but there was quite a line up outside when we left. Obviously very popular. Well done! I will be back!

Cafe Mexico is one of our favourites when we come to town. The atmosphere is really lively and fun and they always manage to accommodate us even when it's really busy. The staff is attentive and friendly and certainly seem to work hard. The menu is varied and the food very tasty (prices have gone up since the big renovation several years ago and the menu seems more high-end than it used to.) I had an interesting variation on a margarita: added "verdita" (pineapple, cilantro, serrano pepper, mint). We didn't want mountains of food, so each ordered 3 small spicey chorizo tacos which had interesting flavours and textures and were well-priced, interesting dishes. We noticed that the complimentary chips and salsa were missing now. Nonetheless, we were dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner and the food was great.
Ok so I will try not to ramble on but I've been to cafe mexico many times and after the fire things had changed. I had a couple/few meals there that were not what I was used to and then after that some of the favs were off the menu. I went for the last time a year or more ago on a 4 people date night and I realized that it wasn't going to be my go to place. I was sad about it. Last night my husband suggested we try again and thank god I did! Not 100% sure what happened but it was the best meal I had ever had there, and my 3 other date night people felt the same way. The chef even came out to check on things. It was somehow new and improved! A new chef in the last 15 months? Anyway please try it for the first time if u have never been or try again if u havent been for a while! Service was fantastic and food was amazing! Same thing I always get but so much better and richer. Great job!
This place is great, they have stellar cocktails, awesome tacos and the tunes on the weekend hit the spot. I especially enjoy the mezcal flights!
Best Margarita we’ve had was here!! We stopped in for their happy hour (check it out!) and would’ve stayed for food if we didn’t have reservations elsewhere - the menu looked so yummy! Can’t wait to go back for more margaritas next time we’re in Victoria! ☺️
We had a great dinner - drinks were excellent and so was the food. The server recommended a tequila flight and we ended up going to the Tudor House Liquor Store and buying one of the bottles from our tasting flight afterwards. It was that good!
I have never been disappointed at Cafe Mexico. This time I ordered the salad which was interesting, fun and delish. I was sorry it was finished. Had the Chile Rellenos for my meal. It was super delicious and a large portion for me. Gary had the apps size beef tacos ( 3) and said they were good. We shared an order of churros which are made just for you so they are steaming hot, fresh out of the fryer. Crispy sweet goodness. Mmmmmmmm! Drinks were good and staff friendly. We would definitely go again.
We quite enjoyed our lunch here, food was delicious, atmosphere is authentic and pleasant. Great customer service!
