Loved 10 Acres Bistro, so thought we would try the Commons another night. I am giving them 3 stars purely because the mixed drinks were excellent, so well done to the bar staff. Unfortunately the food was rather mediocre and left us feeling like we'd rather have had a sandwich at home and just gone out for a drink, and the service was poor. There were clearly too many tables per server, so waiting ages to get their attention, and then they forget to bring what you wanted. Our allocated server was also not friendly, and only talked to the men in the group, as though the women didn't exist. This was commented on by everyone after.
Dined here twice during a 5 day stay in Victoria. The food and drinks were so good that unfortunately I only took photos on the second visit. The chicken burger is sublime - crispy and crunchy and the outside but still moist and succulent inside. Vegetarian cannelloni was good but not outatanding. Very fresh and the lemon prevented it from being a bit stodgy.Drinks were excellent! As a final point, they use a lot of fresh local ingredients and have a weekly changing menu, so there will always be something new and interesting to try.100% recommend giving it a try, especially in summer with the outdoor dining area.
Great location. Food was good - nice shrimp tacos. Very pleasant service. Very noisy.
I stopped into 10 Acres Commons before a whale watching tour for lunch. When a restaurant is so close to such a tourist hub I always worry the food and drinks will be average and overpriced. That was NOT the case at 10 Acres! I sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly, gave some great beer and food recommendations. The food and drinks were some of the best I had on my trip to Victoria. I will absolutely be back.
Was on my own and wanted a good meal. They gave me a great table. I had a scotch some oysters and a clam chowder. What a tasty meal. Would definitely return.
I came to this place with a fellow work colleague who reserved seating and recommended this place. I figured I would test their ribeye in which the server suggested saying there were only two left. I should've took that feedback as a red flag because I thought there were few left due to popularity, not due to poor leftover cuts. It's weird because most restaurants would have the server with a pepper mill offering to add to meals. The server did not, not to mention she was on the slight pushy side for my order (I had 3 other items I had on my mind to try). The sauce was good but I find it really odd that the claimed 22oz cut was served pre-cut which is not the way ribeye is served in other steakhouse restaurants I've been over the years. The vegetables were overcooked and upon finishing the meal, there was a good 3-5 oz of barely cooked unlean fat in the middle. The server and 2 other staff were very quick wanting to clear my plate but I insisted in speaking to the floor manager; and when that person came over to my table, she cleared it before I could take a photo of my plate and said having that much fat is perfectly normal and that I should've known better.I was absolutely aghasted with her remark; this is by far the poorest feedback I have ever heard from any restaurant manager. My colleague was not impressed with the feedback either and told me she will definitely not recommended this place going forward nor return here anytime soon. The person who came to take the payment was sweet and she apologized for the terrible service but unfortunately that didn't cut the mustard as there was zero compensation for the inconvenience. I was very displeased with the server who've decided to avert our table and served tables around us the moment I pointed the problem with my dish and the rudeness of the manager ruined the experience for sure. First time in many years I paid with zero tip.Overall scoring: 0Ambiance: 3 (music too loud, difficult to hold conversation)Decor: 4Service: 0Food: 2 (save your money and order a cheaper menu item)Value: 0If I could give zero stars or a negative (black hole), this place would warrant it.
Great atmosphere, service clears the vibe check too. It’s open but still suspiciously intimate and I don’t know what it is about this place but even sitting at the bar, I’m completely unbothered about. Their drinks selection is fantastic and I’m just sorry that I’m not loaded enough to get plastered off them. Chill, urban, and definitely a rad place to wind down the day with a good friend over a few cocktails.
My must visit whenever I am in Victoria. The outdoor patio is gorgeous during the summer time and the happy hour oysters are always fresh.(Instagram: melceeats)
This place is epic. It's a cool space and vibe with a great concept...sustainable food largely grown and gathered from 10-acres used for 4 local restaurants. Very helpful and engaging staff and the food was spectacular. Also, keep an eye open for folks like Pamela Anderson, Owen Wilson and Elon Musk.
Went with relatives to the happy hour. The half-price oysters were excellent value and we also shared sushi and the calamari. Food was great and the service was very attentive. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
