Such an amazing space!! Every game you could ever imagine is available to play. Fast friendly service as well

Plenty of games to choose from, delicious treats and a great way to escape the heat. The only downside was that you need to pay to sit down. No where did I see this posted on their website or in the cafe.My children were very excited to play a game and I didn't want to disappoint them. I understand paying to use a table if you don't buy food, but if you buy food then you shouldn't have to pay extra for the table. It was a neat experience, but we will never go back.

Wonderful staff, great coffee and an excellent atmosphere! The caramel machiatto was delicious; not too sweet like many but rich and flavorful. Will definitely be back soon! Very comfortable.

My family from out of town and I came here for the first time today. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich & after about 15 min I went back up to the counter to check if it was on its way- the girl with the dark hair, tied back with bangs, looked annoyed/irritated (her facial expression said everything she wanted to say but couldn't out loud). She acknowledged me, but didn't want to bother checking with the kitchen. My family had long finished their food & I thought they were getting on the road soon, so after 20 min I asked for a refund from the same girl. She was even more annoyed & irritated but finally went back to ask the kitchen. After a half hour I got a grilled cheese sandwich that was definitely not worth $9. The wait wouldn't have been such a big deal if the staff hadn't been so miserable. Then my family was about to purchase a $90 board game up until they were told we each owe $6.30 for use of the table where we played our own board game for a half hour while we waited for my order. We had each paid for food & coffees, so paying an additional $18.90 for the table for a half hour was excessive.. They should have their policies posted somewhere in plain view. We won't be back.

We were very excited we came across this place as we're avid board gamers from out of town. The woman who took our order was pretty unfriendly and told us that if we wanted to 'stay and play' it was $6 per person but left us with the impression that if we brought our own game there was no charge. We opted to not play as we weren't staying long. We ordered coffee and food. My sister's grilled cheese sandwich took half an hour to come out. As we had to wait so long I ran to our car to get our game 'What do you meme' which is an easy fast playing game and I just wanted to show my sister. We played for about a half hour and we were going to purchase a $90 game on our way out. It was then that were were informed by the same unfriendly woman that we would have to pay $6 PER PERSON because we played our OWN GAME for a half hour. We paid, but left the game we were going to purchase. I hope the $18 was worth a one star review. It's a shame, this place could be great with better staff.

What a great place! Great game selection and some amazing suggestions from the owner. Walked away with a good time (and a new board game too!)

This is the second time this has happened. As a Vernon downtown citizen who uses the bus alot to move around, it's often the only place warm and in view of the bus. Especially during these cold winters and sometimes you just might need to give your phone a little charge while waiting for your bus.Now one would assume that if someone sees someone regularly, who purchases many many things from their establishment and even engaged in nice conversations with the owner, you might think you might want to keep your place a comforting place for repeat business by not demanding someone leaves if they do not IMMEDIATELY purchase something or pay the table fee. Especially in a place like Vernon where word of mouth is essential. It's a trend in business I despise and I will not be returning to The Boarding House. Want a better atmosphere? Go to Triumph coffee, or head over to Bean Scene. If you need to get board games, get them at Ebbenezars.

Great game selection, friendly staff, wonderful cakes, beautiful corner space with lots of natural light. Can't wait to go back!

My daughter had her birthday celebration here and had a blast! Great game selection, incredibly delicious custom birthday cake, fun food and drink options and an all around fantastic atmosphere. Thank you ?
