The experience, for our first time , was impressive. We just moved to Vernon and know our Jananese food! We are "addicted" to it. The quality and freshness was unbeatable and thanks to Miriam, the lovely and very knowledgeable waitress, she contributed largely in making our first time a very pleasant and memorable one.We will be back and highly recommend Kawakubo to all our friends. EXCELLENT!

Visiting a relative in Vernon we all felt like Japanese and Kawakubo had good ratings so we gave it a try. They remain takeout only--our order for 5 special rolls and 6 pieces of nigiri was taken efficiently and virtually ready at the time promised. The young woman handling the front end was extremely pleasant and efficient in spite of 6 takeout people waiting. The rolls were all quite different and well prepared. The rice could have maybe used another minute in the cooker but this is a tiny detail. The fish was fresh and flavourful and the toppings were imaginative and tasty. Three kinds of nigiri (hamachi, salmon, and unagi were fresh and well flavoured. Overall a positive experience and would both recommend and return.
When I first moved to Vernon last year, it took me no time at all to find Kawakubo, it was the name out of everyone's mouth when it came to the best sushi.And they were right.This is definitely one of the best spots in the Okanagan.The sushi is SO FRESH, everytime.The tastes are so incredible everything is always made to perfection.I eat there weekly now, and the staff and Miriam, make me feel so welcome everytime I come in the door. We ordered from here several times during the pandemic but this was our first in restaurant experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful. And the food is absolutely delicious. Fresh, tasty and amazing. This is by far our favourite in town…in all of the Okanagan actually. This definitely rivals our Vancouver favourites and I may even go out on a limb to say it was better. We highly recommend this family run, fantastic restaurant.
