Heard a lot of this restaurant and finally gave it a try on an early evening. The steam bun is excellent. But not the noodle. The beef is plain, noodle is fine but the broth is more like powder dissolve soup with no depth or aroma. The pan friend bun was precooked and the bottom is as hard and dry like biscuit or cookie.Saw other patrons order pan fried rice cake but was added with bean sprout. That is weird. And another table order beef roll and soy sauce stir fried Shanghai noodle. They look legitimate.Steam bun is of best quality in lower mainland.
Been coming here for years, they have some of the best XLB and Pork Chop Soup in the Lower Mainland. They make their XLB and noodles fresh and you can watch the process through the window at the back of the tiny store. It's truly a hidden gem of a restaurant. Service is always good and food is consistently delicious.
First if all, this place gets packed early. We came on a Sunday at exactly 11am and most of the tables were already full. Also, FYI, cash only. The XLB was good (4/5). No complaints. The pan fried bao was decent (3/5), if a bit on the doughy side. The pan fried noodles were very good (4/5). The beef roll was also only ok (3/5). Beef noodle soup was very good (4.5/5).Overall, the place was solid and recommended (3.5/5), but considering the price, I would say highly recommend!
Delicious and fast meal! Love that their deep fried buns and XLB have soup in them. Busy little place but fast service. Make sure you bring cash and use the bathroom beforehand.
Small restaurant that can comfortably seat ~10 groups (2-3 per group). It is a busy place so don't be surprised if no table is available. The good thing is the food service is very fast so the turnaround is pretty quick. Takeout might be a faster option. The dumplings, wontons, and buns are all freshly made when ordered. The noodles are pretty good. You can't beat the price of this place. This is the definite place to grab a quick and cheap bite, not unlike the dumpling or noodle places in Asia.
Came to pickup my to go order on Saturday. The food was ready when we got there. We ordered the steamed pork buns, pan fried pork buns and Dan Dan noodles.I always get their pan fried pork buns because they always have lots of juice inside. This time was no exception. The price of the pan fried pork buns was $7.25 which I think is reasonable for 5 buns. The outside was crispy. I found the bottom skin a little thicker than usual but still delicious. The pork felt a little dry but other than that pretty delicious. The steamed pork buns were mediocre. The skin is pretty thin but again the pork was dry and had less soup than the pan fried pork buns. Would definitely recommend the pan fried pork buns OVER the steamed pork buns.TIP: they automatically charge 0.25 cents for a paper bag via phone orders. So if you don't want that extra charge maybe let them know you'll bring your own bag?
We had Wang’s for NY Eve dinner. Ordered the beef roll - crispy, Shanghai pan fried noodles - ok, pan fried buns - juicy, xiao long bao - good, and of course, the beef noodle soup - broth tasty, noodles thin and beef shank soft and flavourful.
Soupy delicious pan fried pork buns 生煎包, quick and affordable. Very filling and yummy Chili sauce! Paid with cash.
Authentic, reasonably priced, and DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this place, but remember to bring cash as they’re cash only. Dining space is a bit small but the food is so good.
The service and the food was great. They banter with everybody in Cantonese and Mandarin, don't be alarmed when they yell at other people.Beef rolls, dumpling with soup, spicy beef noodle are all very authentic. Ordered and everything came in about 5 mins. Cash only, I was 50 cents short, and was planning to get some cash from the bnk, but the lady was nice enough to forego that. Will definitely revisit.
