A great local spot, feels intimate and hidden away especially given it's right off Granville. Some previous reviews speak to the price/quantity ratios, but this is a social spot that makes you feel welcome and hosted. You're there for the whole experience.
Always a new and creative menu. Good wine selection and recommendations. They really know how to do amazing fish.
We got the New Year's 6 courses menu during New Year's eve. Food overall was good however the service was terrible.First of all, my seafood stater had sands in both of the scollap and the oyster, I had to spit them out. We supposed that it wasn't cleaned properly but ok mistake happens. We didn't request replacement or refund or anything, we just called a server who was working at the bar over and asked for an explanation. However, instead of apologizing or checking with the chef, she staight up told us that thier seafood are all unwashed and SUPPOSED to be sandy. Her attitude was ridiculous.Server at our table didn't care about anything but selling wine. I explained to her that we don't drink when she first asked, but she still came back to ask us again if we want wine. And it was the only time she ever came back to the table. She never came back to refill the water for even once, had to call her over every single time. There was one time she literally dropped off our food, said nothing and left. We had to call her back to ask which course it was and what it was.Service was also very slow, after we sat down for over an hour, all we got was the seafood starter and a salad course. However, except the starter, the rest of the courses were all delicious. My only complain was just that I couldn't really taste the truffle for the truffle cheese bread, although I still liked the dish.1 star service and 5 star food, overall a 3 star.
We were really excited about the 4 course NYE set menu but left feeling rushed and practically forced out the door with a bit of indigestion quite frankly. The table was not ready when we arrived promptly at 19h00 for our booking - the 15min wait really wasn't any trouble at all, though at this point we were unaware it would be cutting into strict dining time! With the available space it would have been far better hospitality to serve us a drink at the bar whilst we waited instead of leaving us to huddle in sub zero temperatures on the small outdoor deck. The menu was kept a surprise and after previewing the regular menu online we anticipated our tastebuds would be in for a real treat. We were off to a great start with a delightful first seafood course, but it soon felt as though we were on a disjointed downward trajectory. The famous whipped potatoes although flavoursome were slightly overworked resulting in a taffy texture and the mound of bitter cabbage leaves with citrus hiding the delicious (small) caramalised onion tart was particularly puzzling. The poached pear dessert was really disappointing as the pear was cold and clammy, served on a disproportionately large shortbread biscuit with just not enough caramel sauce - not so inviting when on a snowy winter evening. Much haste was needed to clear our plates before they were whisked off to make way for the next course (before the last person had finished I might add - again, poor etiquette). The poor guest that was doing the (rather expenny) $100 wine pairing was barely two sips in before being bombarded by the next glass. The ladies had opted for glasses of prosecco but weren't once offered a top up or to a glass of wine with the main course. All in all whilst this wasn't the worst meal that I have had I do feel that it was unjustified to spend this amount on a meal that wasn't well executed and served in a whirlwind. Quite honestly I think it was a little ambitious (if not greedy) to book three dinner services on a special night that people will be celebrating well into midnight. Safe to say I don't think I will be recommending or returning to this restaurant.
14/10 the waiter is amazing with his French Accent, will try to come at least once a week. And the food is great. But with this service, it is better
We had an excellent lunch again today. Our second visit. Fried chicken is delicious. Shared a charcuterie plate. Great options, really enjoyed. Nice wines by the glass as well. We will be back!.
A tiny cozy place for bring a date or enjoy alone, the environment is very relax and chill just for escape from the traffic of the city. The charcuterie board is exquisite, finnichiona salami, duck pastrami and pork terrine ( both house made) my selection for tonight but I will come back for more.Protip combine de seeds, pumpkin dip and the salami for an amazing tapa. And yes, sorry. Is a bistro place, if you expect food for a few dollars the big M is in an other place. Any way in my experience was not expensive at all.Enjoy the place and chill out...
This is what is coming as a share, large plate which it wasn't. And it was costly. But if you are looking for having experience on fresh and farm food, beside great and friendly waiters, definitely this place is suggested.
Great little out of the way place with great wine selection and great charcuterie! Really great people!
Great date spot! First time was this past week. Quiet and centrally located. Walked right in, no line. AND the food was incredible. Fried chicken and risotto was next level! My girlfriend and I live in the area and will definitely come back here!
