I used to come to this place every Monday for about a year and a half starting back in 2020. Ended up falling out of practice and came back for the first time a couple days ago. Was surprised to see Gagan still remembered me and wanted to know where the hell I was over the past 10 months. Will be getting back into my usual routine and come by for Guinness and burgers on Mondays.
Did not get asked for drinks for 15 min and then we're given flat Kings Head lagers which as the namesake, should be fresh or at least not flat. Kitchen was backed up which was no fault of the waitress but after an hour and a half we got our food and one of our meals was forgotten leaving one person without. Wrong beers were delivered as well. Also charged for mayo on the side for fries???
We decided to sit here because it was one of the few dog friendly patios. We ordered a few beers which where good. The food, however, took more than 40 minutes to get to us and my vegetarian burger came almost burnt (as seen in the picture). The service wasn’t great either even though the waitress apologized and said she’s been working 3 shifts straight. Seemed like a bad day for the restaurant…
We were a group of 6 that waited over 15 minutes for someone to come by and offer us drinks. The waitress told us the kitchen was backed up and would be a wait of about 30 minutes which we were ok with. The king’s head lager was totally flat. Waitress forgot one of the meals all together, and we waited over an hour for meals to arrive. None of the meals were good. Dry burgers and soggy fish and chips. Charged an extra $1.50 for a side of mayo. Really? Nothing done to try and improve the experience. Never again. Wouldn’t recommend.
Decent spot in Kits. It's close to the beach which is nice. It can be hit or miss, especially with the staff. There have been times when I have had a good experience and other times where it seems like the staff does not want to be there. Food and drink is a reasonable price and the live music can definitely add to the atmosphere, enhancing the experience overall.
Avoid! Went here for a beer and after waiting forever for them to bring it out they brought me one with floating chunks in it… I asked if I could get another and they brought it but it also had creepy bits in it. (I’ve had this beer many times before and it has never contained any solids.) I finally asked for a different beer which came out fine. When they brought the bill I saw that they charged me for the drinks I sent back and they said because I didn’t want them it was my fault. They never mentioned this was how the beer is and they never mentioned I’d be charged. Felt sorry for the server who was clearly under pressure from her manager to do this. Just don’t go here man.
Went to happy hour and arrived at 5:40. Upon arriving the place was empty and we had to wait to be told to go seat ourselves. We ordered drinks at 5:45 and received them a few minutes later, although our waitress disappeared until after 6pm to ask us if we were interested in food. We ordered a bunch of appetizers off the happy hour menu and she failed to mention that we were paying full price past the 6:00pm rate. When we got the final bill we saw that all of the food was full priced which was frustrating when our waitress stalled until after 6. My friend was charged individually for 3 non-alcoholic sodas and everytime we have been there in the past it was always free refills. On top of all that our waitress was short and not very nice with us. The food was good but tough to enjoy the experience when you have serving staff that clearly aren't happy to be there.
Great specials on drinks and good prices for food in general compared to other nearby pubs. Nice to see live music again!
