A true Vancouver treasure. Lovely people, always great eating.
My favourite thing at Tavola is an egg and anchovy appetizer. Great place for a date or meal with friends. Some pasta options can be made with gluten-free pasta.
Went to Tavola’s for the second time last night. They were very accommodating to change our reservation which we had planned for an earlier time. Service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. We had two different pasta dishes for mains and an endive salad for starter. Portions are generous. Will definitely go back when. We are in Vancouver.
If you are looking for an Italian experience in Canada … this is the place. Service, food , ambience all are exceptional and enjoyed dinner. Price wise bit on a higher side but worth every dollar.
I love the atmosphere; great for family-style dining, The server was a gem, but I couldn’t put five stars on the food; the not-so-great pasta turned me off. The pasta is very average and tasteless. The taste is not for the price, which was so expensive; it’s costly for the food quality. Also, the food came out so quickly that I’m convinced it’s pre-made and then heated up? Anyway, the server was helpful and friendly. It's decent. Nothing spectacular.
Overall, I've really come to love Tavola since moving to Vancouver 6 months ago. But it's an interesting mix of some truly outstanding dishes, and a few others that are just ok. The Burrata with prosciutto is to die for! Absolutely delicious prosciutto and well worth the additional cost. The burrata without it would be a waste! They also have a daily crostini special, which is often excellent. The Brick Chicken has become my favorite dish, and is absolutely delicious! If I had to try and criticize that dish, it would only be to say consider ordering a side as well. It's basically just an incredibly delicious piece of chicken sitting in a wonderful sauce. Not much else on the plate, so a salad or side will add a lot. The broccolini is my favored choice. One caution: While the pastas are what this place is supposedly famous for, they don't travel well. During the height of COVID lockdowns they were only offering delivery, and frankly the pastas were ruined by the time they arrived. But that's specific to delivery. Dine-in and they are fine. The biggest shortcoming is the desserts are all disappointing. The staff seem quite proud of the tiramisu, which I guess they think is the best around. You don't have to venture more than half a block to Breka Cafe to find FAR more appealing european desserts, and if you enjoy Asian deserts there are several Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korean dessert specialty shops in the neighborhood to venture to right after your amazing savory experience at Tavola. I personally like the brick chicken a whole lot more than the pastas others rave about, but that's just personal taste. On the front-of-house side of things, they wait staff are friendly, fun and professional. But you will probably get some 'attitude' if you try and walk in without a reservation, especially on a weekend. Don't expect a polite "Oh, I'm so sorry, we'd love to have you but we're fully booked tonight". Expect something closer to a smug look as if to say "Walk-in? Here? On a weekend? Are you *kidding me*? But hey, I can live with a little attitude so long as it's earned by true passion for yummy food, and the kitchen delivers on that.
Absolutely delicious! Went here for my birthday dinner and got the cacio e pepe and I don’t remember what my friend got (I *think* something with ground pork, fennel, and ricotta but I could be totally wrong haha) but both dishes were just so amazing! We always talk about the pasta from that night. The waiters were all very nice too. Only complaint would be we came during the end of fall when it was getting pretty cold and were seated on the patio with heating overhead that would periodically turn on and it felt like our foreheads were burning when it was on. But we got over that quickly enough. Overall a great experience and can’t wait to come again!
nice vibes. staff very helpful and informed, starters, cocktails l, and food was allpretty great!
Had a wonderful dinner at Tavola last week. The food is really delicious! We had the Paccheri Pulled Pork Ragu and the Cacio e Pepe spaghetti. Both were wonderful. In addition, we shared a large salad- also great. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was fantastic as usual. We had not been able to visit since the pandemic shutdown so it was wonderful to return!
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver! The food is delicious and they always have a great selection of regular items and daily specials. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant has a great ambiance ??
