I just found out about Taste of Thai from my Thai friend. This restaurant is one of 3 oldest Thai restaurants in Vancouver ( Taste of Thai, Sala Thai , Sawasdee on Main).Their foods are authentic and very flavourful. My favorites are Padwoonsen (Stir fried vermicelli) and E-san papaya salad. Not many Thai restaurants here offer these 2 menus. Don't forget to order stuffed chicken wings and deep fried banana! I would go there every weekend if I lived in the area.
I have had thai food in many restaurants around the lower mainland, since my brother dragged me into my first Thai experience 30 years ago. I have to say Taste of Thai is the best I have EVER had. This is saying alot because I have had some very good thai food.
The green chicken curry was so delicious! Not watery and lots of flavor. I think one of the best green curries I have tried in a while. The satay chicken was full of flavor and juicy and the spring rolls were crispy, tasty and not greasy. I would order from this restaurant again. Very good food!
Always on the search for a good Pad Thai, and I think I finally found the one! Good spice level, large portions, and very friendly staff. Chicken and prawns always fresh and never over cooked! Spring rolls are delicious as well. They were also super accommodating and informative when making adjustments for my vegan friend.
Taste of Thai does not disappoint. The flavors are always excellent with the sauces tasting particularly authentic, the fish sauce that they use is very good and is in many of the prepared sauces. The owner of the restaurant is a very friendly, spirited and customer focused restaurateur. Many locals support Taste of Thai, a testament to the product and service provided. I am especially happy that they carry Singha beer which is a must have to go with their flavors. I am always well accommodated when I make a large take-out order. If you are in the Kitsilano or Point Grey neighborhoods of Vancouver you need to try Taste of Thai. They are a small, local business that deserve your patronage; they certainly have mine.
Delicious food and very kind waitresses (and kind owner too), but the portion is so little for the price. The Thai Ice Tea is very good as well!
Tucked away on West Broadway, this restaurant is one of the better Thai places I have tried recently. The pad Thai was great and the noodles were not mushy. Green curry was refreshing with the bamboo shoots and the tom yum soup did not disappoint. Great service too although food did take a bit longer than expected. They also serve mini appetizer while you wait for the food which is neat.
Not impressed with our takeout order tonight. We called and placed an order (4 things+rice) and were told a 30 minute wait. We come in a few minutes after that time and were told another 10 minutes. Then we come back in again... food ended up taking 50 minutes altogether. Really? The lady was also kind of rude. Don't take on takeout orders if all you're doing is serving the in restaurant people. There should be a queue so that orders like ours aren't forgotten. Should have just walked off to be honest... ridiculous esp on a day with lots of rain/hail.
While this place may be popular, the service for sit in patrons leaves a lot to be desired. Went there at 6.15 on a weekday only 3 tables were occupied but the staff were too busy serving pickup orders. Drivers and pickup orders were lined up inside the restaurant which is not conducive to dining experience. The tiger beef came on top of ice cold iceberg lettuce so obviously it cooled the meat instantly so has to have cold beef. This dish did not compare to thai place on main and 28...same dish. The prawn dish was fine but again semi warm. I belive this restaurant should convert to take out place. Even after asking for my beer which was placed on the counter the server jokes and says it is getting warm and the other staff brought it fir me after another 5 mins of waiting.
Super friendly staff/owners, and delicious authentic food. ambient atmosphere. Would highly recommend and will be going back. yellow curry was delicious :)
