Well, I was a little disappointed. I didn't get a sense of being in a Greek restaurant. There was no Greek music, no friendly greeting and the 2 staff that were waiting on us were east Indian. This is not a racist comment. I had heard this was a friendly family owned business. I didn't realize the restaurant was under new management. The place looked untended. Staff coats, etc were piled by the bar area near the kitchen, and that area just looked messy. The table cloth we were at had large grease (?) stains. There is a lot of history in this place. I just hope the new owners can do it justice.I will say the food was great, the Retsina wine was delicious, the portions were generous. Bill was $88 for 2 full meals and a 1/2 L of Retsina, no appetizers or dessert. For Vancouver Davies restaurant area, those prices are decent.
Got take out via Uber Eats and were very happy with it. Excellent portions, tasty chicken and potatoes, and delicious grilled pita bread. Will def order again!
Ordered two of the lamb souvlaki for myself and my partner on Uber Eats and I’m not sure if it was old meat or what but it was inedible and I had to throw it away. Maybe it was just a bad day I’m not sure but won’t be ordering again. :-(
Amazing food! I had the grilled calamari with a side green salad and lemon potatoes and everything tasted incredible. Service was really pretty slow given that they weren’t very busy, but she was nice and apologetic.
Dee's service was excellent managing a fairly complicated order from table of 6. Lamb entrees were delicious. Caesar was a bit unbalanced. Calamari apps were a bit overdone. Overall a good restaurant.
Outstanding! Perfect souvlaki, top notch service, very decent prices. The door alarm beeping every 5 seconds was annoying, but still worth it!
The food was excellent. The service was wonderful. The only issue is parking, but that is pretty typical for Vancouver.
I am not one to write reviews as I'm pretty easy going with my food especially during covid when businesses are struggling but I had to share my experience...here it goes. It has been a couple years since we've been to this restaurant and it was a main staple for us for many years so you can imagine our disappointment when we ordered Greek staples calamari and roast lamb. The calamari was overcooked and rubbery. We sent it back and it was the same including missing flavour. The lamb was mostly bone and came with a beige/grey gravy. The rice was also flavorless. It was all missing spices and flavour. They were very apologetic and brought us ozo and we appreciated that but I did not want a shooter I wanted a tasty dinner. It did not make up for our very disappointing meal that we still paid full price for!!! If you decide to go I hope your meal has all the traditional and amazing flavours found in greek food. Good luck
I recently moved to Vancouver last year so I’m still discovering the city and the hidden gems, but it’s safe to say Takis is definitely on the top of the list! I have gone into the restaurant to eat with my fiancé a couple times and experienced such great, welcoming, fast service. The food is amazing, fresh and great value for your dollar! My favorite dishes are the Salmon Slovakia and Grilled Calamari. ESPECIALLY the Grilled Calamari! My fiancé enjoys the Lamb Klefitiko. When we order delivery the food is just as good and timely!! Would definitely recommend for authentic Greek cuisine.
Love this cute restaurant! Food is always fresh and out of this world! New owners are always so nice and friendly!
