First time here, and it didn't disappoint! I was fascinated by all the memorabilia on the walls, it brought back happy memories from my childhood. The booths gave the café a diner feel. The staff were accommodating, and allowed our party of 2 to move to a roomier 4-seater booth (there was no line to wait for a table at that point). The Florentine Benedict had a generous topping of spinach and the medium poached eggs were just right, I really enjoyed this dish! They offer a huge selection of flavoured milkshakes that I'd like to try next time.
Fantastic gluten free/ celiac free menu with recommendations from waitress that the toaster was not just for r gluten free so I had oven toasted
Great food, cozy place, retro decor and close to everything. Staff are friendly and will keep you coming back.
❤️ the decorations remind me all the good time in 70’s and the Veggies ? Burger ? so ? yummy and don’t forget to order the Milkshakes ?
Been coming here since my university days (>25 years ago) on/off and it’s consistently awesome! Great food, even better service, big portions, and fair prices.
Cozy Cafe in Kitz that has a warm vibe on the inside with great food to match. I personally find Sophie’s to be better than it’s neighbour Jam and they have less of a wait time. Eggs in my order were cooked to a degree I had asked for and the hot sauce compliments the potatoes well. Great place for a weekend breakfast or brunch.
Very poor service. We waited 20 minutes for cutlery that never arrived (we ended up sharing one set!). We also had to wait 10 minutes for milk for our coffee. One dish was meant to come with sausage but didn't. It was also VERY bland, so we sent it back. We were excited to go back for milkshakes sometime as we live nearby, but won't be back again. Save your your money for Jam! Only 1 block away!
Homey diner located in Kits. Friendly and attentive staff. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining. The single tables are quiet closely spaced together, but I don't think there's anything that can be done here. It was quiet busy when we went (1pm on a Saturday), but turnovers are fast. They offer breakfast eats, burgers, fries and amazing milk shakes! Not sure who said Sophie's veggie burger was the 'best they ever had'. This is sadly not the case. The veggie burger is made of beets and pine nuts? It is very 'mushy' and not well put together, so when paired with a thick, multi-grain bun, it just smears everywhere and gets messy. The veggie patty itself isn't the most flavourful but I could see it being good on its own... perhaps in a veggie meatloaf-type dish ? The eggs benny (2 poached eggs) were great, although the portion size could be a little bigger. Nonetheless, great experience, would highly recommend. But I've had better veggie burgers elsewhere!
The food is nothing to write home about. The staff are friendly though the service was terrible. No one checked up on how the food was tasting and it took a long time to get the bill. We had the Mexicana and the scrambled eggs were overcooked. The best part was the boozy hot chocolate. We only came here because the jam cafe was closed. The jam cafe has similarly priced food but the quality at Sophie's did not compare even the slightest.
Just spent over $60 on breakfast for 3. Cold eggs. small portion.. looked like it was made from some kind of fake egg mix not 2 real eggs. Cold lumpy hash browns? not even sure what they were.. soggy cold marble toast. was probably sitting out.. gross! You gotta do way better! Not pleased at all. Felt extremely ripped off
