Everything was so tasty, and cooked so well. It might have been because we lucked out going near the end of the night, but the portions were absolutely enormous! Sandwiches were loaded sky high, and everybody had a mountain of tots. Also, the night we were there the server was going through some Radiohead albums which was pretty awesome.
food is absolutely terrible as well as the staff. called in to discuss with a manger about the disgusting food i just ordered, the girl said hold on i’ll go find them then proceeded to tell me there’s no manager? so now there’s no one in charge? all of sudden? extremely rude, cut me off didn’t care to hear the issue. they cut corners by cutting portions in half and covering it up. for a sandwich they use a SMALL tender size piece of chicken and triple coat with batter. so you’re eating a sandwich most filled with deep fried batter bits and no actual chicken! seasoning is bland and basically inedible. thank goodness we’re in vancouver and the actual south where i’m from doesn’t know of the shocking atrocity they are trying to pass as “southern comfort food”
Been here a handful of times now. Always great service, good food and drinks. Going to miss the brisket baked beans, so good! Will be back again soon!
What an experience this was. The machine gun Kelly looking waiter is something else. Couldn’t even guess at waiting times. Allowed dogs to sit at the table where people eat. Cleared some fellas food away while he was in the toilet. Failed to notify us that the main meal on the menu, the brisket, wasn’t available. Then 10 minutes later all of a sudden they’ve ‘found’ some brisket… where have you found this sir? After 5 minutes of deliberating he then admits it’s not fresh.. so out of the garbage is it? We then ask for the bill as we were clearly dissatisfied with the service. He then pestered us to pay and even made an out of taste dance and strange noise. All in all I doubt I’ll be giving this place anymore of my time nor money.
The food is out of this world good. One of the best BBQ I have ever had. Ribs are to die for, and Brisket was so on point. Shrimp PoBoy was so so good.I did not order from them before because of some of these random 1 star reviews. I can guarantee those are either competitors or people with no taste.Do yourself a favour and give it a shot, you wont be disappointed. I will be ordering weekly going forward.
Very delicious brisket and fried chicken and Mac and cheese and....I could go on and on
Decent Happy Hour. $4 PBR, $12 brisket sandwich. Service was pronto and attentive.
We ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Chilli Cheese Tots and the Daisy May (bbq platter.)Daisy May:Pulled pork was ok. I liked the pickled onions and jalapenos, they did a nice job of offsetting the sauce.Ribs were decent. The portion is very small. The piece I got was that triangular tapered end of the rib which has little meat, but a lot of tendon and fat. I personally don't mind this part of the ribs, but the other in my party was not a fan.Chicken was arguably the best part of it. The country style gravy is a good complement to it.Pretty standard coleslaw, potato salad was good.Spicy Chicken Sandwich:Honestly, this sandwich was not good. It was so full of sauce. The habanero mayo was mixed in with the We asked for pickles on the side, they came on the sandwich and made the bread soggy. I'm a huge salt fan but this sandwich was too salty for even me. It was also incredibly saucy. We didn't even finish half of this sandwich.Chili cheese tots:Chili wasn't bad! The menu does say queso, but the queso wasn't very good. The cheese content was comparable to the jarred tostitos stuff you get at the store.Overall I wouldn't come back here. I was craving southern bbq and was hoping Slim's could scratch that itch, but to be honest I was fairly disappointed with everything. If for some reason I was here again I would probably just order the chicken with the gravy.
Cozy and fun place. Unpretentious food and drink but well executed. Shrimp Po Boy was great. Loved the menu art. Will be back.
Super cute atmosphere! I love when the sun goes down and they put out all the candles (especially gorgeous on a rainy night!)The fried chicken is to die for and the corn bread rocked my world!Bitchin Caesar also!
