A glorious feast for the tastebuds and all the senses! This cozy, classy spot is filled with indigenous art and music and features a fully authentic indigenous menu with locally sourced ingredients (yes, even the wine list!). Service is impeccable and the fare is upscale elegant and delicious. We had toasted bannock with mushrooms as an opener, and elk sausage / wild caught salmon "fiss and rice" for the main. Sage-infused blueberries featured prominently and highlighted the game and bright local veg perfectly. Perfect unique spot for a date. Will visit again!
Awesomeness- *very knowledgeable servers *great Indigenous cuisine *just like grandma’s (kookum)cooking *very in-gauging staff *nice decor *BANNOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Highly recommend to make this your destination stop while in Vancouver!
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. From the owner to the staff to the amazing food; it was just the most amazing night all the way around!! They made it extra special because it was my birthday and sang happy birthday and gifted me rhubarb upside down cake which was amazing. The ambience it is just like going home and FYI the gravy; yes you could drink it from a wine glass it was that good. I had the roast bison (pictured) which you didn't need a knife to cut as it was so tender it fell off my fork. My sister had salmon with Ojibwe rice which tastes so good and the soup and the mushroom on fried bannock was simply delicious. Again, I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I will be a repeat customer. I am going to eat my way through every single item they have on the list?
amazing food and inviting, warm environment. we had bison pot roast and the bannock taco with added elk...both soooo delish! highly recommended ?
Wonderful experience with wonderful food and even more wonderful staff! I spent a year waiting to go here and everyone I talked to about it randomly before only had amazing things to say. i worried that I hyped myself up too much before going! I did not ? it was awesome!!
Delicious food and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly.
Absolutely unique place - Indigenous Food you won't find anywhere else. The food is of the highest quality and all local with unique flavor combinations. We had the bison pot roast, the salmon and rice, and a new dish - butter poached black cod! The bannock is soft and warm and fresh. The server is also incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and you can see how much she cares about every detail.
The food and service was incredible! This was a culinary experience. Highly recommend that you check this place out if you’d like to try something new. Ask for the cedar jelly for your bannock!
It was our first time at this restaurant and we were very happy with our experience. Everything was quite tasty and the portion sizes were good. I was very satisfied with my meal. Service was very friendly and efficient. For starters, we shared an order of the game sampler and an order of the mushrooms on toasted bannock. For the entrées, I had the bison pot roast and my friend had the fiss n rice. The gravy is delicious. We were too full for dessert afterwards. I would definitely come back again. The restaurant is relatively small and a reservation would ensure you would get a table. I made a reservation three days prior by email through their website.
We went wanting to support an Indigenous business and ended up being overwhelmed. The food was brilliant and there was a celebration for the end of filming of an Indigenous entrepreneur's competition which brought us close to tears several times. But everyone should come for the food.
