Ww had to wait 2 min for a table but I recommend reservations. Check out the specials board before ordering. Good variety of food but no hainanese chicken rice which was disappointing. I got a laksa instead which was good. A bit pricey but the food was good. Nicely decorated with Malaysian and Singaporean grocery items decorating the place.
We tried their $38 brunch menu, what a deal! It includes a drink, 3 appetizers and a main. They were all delicious. We especially loved their fish sauce caramel chicken wings, boat noodles and the salted egg yolk popcorn chicken with torn milk bread, sitting in a delicious salted ube coconut syrup. The waiter was super friendly and approachable. Would definitely come back again!
Great experience to taste South-East Asian cuisine.
Came on a Sunday afternoon, not a lot of people inside. We were seated right away. The service is super friendly and attentive. They answered all our questions and was super fast with everything. We had the laksa, Kaya toast, char kway teow and the chicken Sando.Laksa - I love it when restaurants use a mix of egg noodles and vermicelli. The soup had a very strong shrimp paste flavour which I liked. I could also taste the coconut flavour but I feel like it could have used a little more depth (for me personally needed more seafood flavour). Definitely on the sweeter side.Kaya "Toast" - definitely a different take on Kaya Toast. The milk toast was very crispy and buttery which I loved. The Pandan cream on the side helped balanced out the saltiness of the butter. I would eat this again but would just call it Milk bread with PandanChicken Sando - the milk bread went really well with the fried chicken. I found the batter of the fried chicken kind of thick but other than that I felt like the piece of chicken given was really generous and thick. The sliced cabbage helped give it that freshness. It was missing some kind of sauce to give it another kick.Char Kway Teow - this was again another generous dish. Lots of filling given - shrimp, fish cake, Chinese sausage. But I felt like it was missing wok hei (fire flavour) and it was also on the sweeter side (for me).Overall - they put a lot of effort into each dish and it's reflected in the flavour and the way all the dishes looked. I love that they are bringing their own flare to Singapore/Malaysian food. Definitely comfort food for the soul
I am so sad. I wanted to try this place so bad and wanted to love it but….Inside is super cute. Casual with lots of colours. It’s trendy cafe style. The staff was knowledgeable and nice. Service was fast.Price is on the higher side for what you get.
Food was very delicious! Lots of unique flavour combinations. Chicken was crispy and juicy!Sometimes their speciality dishes are out of stock so if you have your eye on a dish check on their site before going!Sadly couldn’t get the Crispy Pata maybe next time.
This is a hidden gem for southeast Asian food!! Their salted egg chicken wings are amazing! Everything else we ordered felt like it came straight from the hawker eatery in Singapore!! The plates and the cutlery also gives off a very nostalgic feel, very true to its roots!
Stopped by to try their dineout lunch, excited for the opportunity to try a wide range of dishes! Loved the colourful decor, but the food itself was rather disappointing. The chicken rendang was dry and not particularly tender and quite unlike any other rendang we'd tried before, with the bulk of the coconut flavour coming from the rice. The egg roti canai was quite good but the curry was, horrifyingly, HK-style yellow curry rather than any sort of southeast asian curry. The pork chop sando came with nice soft well-buttered bread, but the meat itself was rather bland. The kaya that came with the french toast was thin and watery and didn't hold up against the heaviness of the french toast. The horlicks panna cotta itself was tasty, but for some reason came with spoonfuls of some sort of lemon curd, which made for a bit of an unexpected flavour combination.
This was my very first visit and the only saving grace of the experience, was the service. If not for the great service, I would not even consider leaving any stars. Unfortunately, I came for the food and not the service. Not going to lie, after hearing and seeing so many great reviews of potluck hawkers, my expectations were set a bit higher. Sadly, none of them were met to say the least. The first appetizer, the laksa chow felt very rushed as the vegetables were still very raw. Biting into hard, raw vegetables in a soup was not as pleasant as one would think. The chicken rendang in the entree was tastless, like the marinade was short and had not set into the meat yet. The prawn crackers that was provided with the chicken rendang dish was very stale, probably a few days old as we complained and they brought us new sets of prawn crackers and the color and taste was absolutely day and night. I have to say though, the French toast dessert was probably the best thing we had from our meal. Regrettable experience to say the least.
Nice addition to the Cambie Village, I went to try a few dishes and actually I was very impressed for the decor, the nice customer service and both presentation and test of the food. Some of the dessert where better them other, but maybe was just because where different of the regular. Will back
