The food is delicious. Made to order so it takes a little while. Some items are seasonal like the fish. The inside of the store is clean and aesthetically pleasing. The owner is very friendly! I definitely recommend the lemon chicken and the Mongolian chicken!!! I am not sure if it was pork or beef but the one that has a deep fried yam is also a must try!!! Btw they have a dessert place connected to their dining room! Go check that out too!

Best family run restaurant for Malaysian Food in Vancouver. I have yet to try better. Way better than Banana Leaf. Definitely a 5 star review if it's just based on the food. The star deduction is for the lack of service. It's a very busy restaurant but that doesn't mean service is not important along with the great food. They have many workers walking around but apparently they can't take orders and there is only one designated person for that. If this is improved there is no better place.The food is stellar and never disappoints! We had the Curry Laksa, chicken and lamb satays, radish cakes, beef rendang, sambal green beans and of course the marvelous roti canai. These were the highlights but we ordered a few more dishes. Must try this place !
I haven't seen such a ridiculously rude server for a long long time. So here's the story. I know they recently open a dessert shop next to their restaurant. I wanted to try both of them so we went there tonight. The restaurant didn't look busy. A lady came to us, I told her we want a table for 3. When she was flipping a booking list, I told her we didn't make reservation. Guess what she said. WE DON'T HAVE A TABLE FOR YOU. This was the first sentence she said to us, and she didn't even look at us. Then what? Are you trying to kick me out? Without saying sorry the waitlist is full or whatever???? I have heard of many good reviews from this place but now I don't think they deserve it.
Tried this place around 5PM with a friend. We didn’t have reservations but we were able to get seated. The curry laksa and roti was the only highlight of our meal. Our drinks also near the end of our meal. Please do not come here expecting service as you will be disappointed. It’s understandable that restaurants would like high table turnover to ensure sales but leaving the bill at the table when we weren’t finished our meal and handing the card machine to us at the same time is rude especially when we did not ask for the bill and still finishing our meal.
Amy was an absolute sweetheart. She puts her heart and soul into Penang and explained the cultural importance of every dish. Speedy service is also an understatement. Food was delivered to our table quicker than a fast food restaurant, with stunning presentation. Sweet, salty, umami- the menu was perfectly balanced. Would definitely recommend coming with a large party and sharing a plethora of dishes (Amy also blasts the best music!)12/10 would come again! The golden chicken is a must try :)
The food quality is not consistent. A dish of skinny clams with most shells with hardly anything in there costed me $40. It’s honestly mostly shells!!! We hardly found anything to eat! I showed it to them, the server saw it and took it away to show it to their boss, but still charged me the full price of $40, they didn’t return the plate so I couldn’t take any picture. They didn’t care about your experience, only about money. The server pushed me to order more and more and I did, but they didn’t have one of the dishes that I ordered, so she made me feel very uncomfortable about not ordering something else more. I ordered 8 skewers of satay, but she asked if I wanted to order more meat, I said 8 skewers of grilled meat is a lot of meat already! She laughed!?!
The boss is so friendly would talk to us every time. Taste is great but I do like their dessert more than dishes. ?
Everyone of my guests were happy and satisfied by the delicious meal. We'll definitely come back. The waiters are very nice and friendly!
Friendly staff but food came out slowly. Dishes were amazing though. Unique flavours and one of the best fried rices I ever had.
