It was just ok. There was no acid in anything, so the whole meal lacked brightness. This was especially disappointing for me because I got the braised brisket and saw it came with purple cabbage, which I assumed would be tossed in some kind of acid (it seems like a no-brainer on a rich dish). But no dice.My partner got the Shanghai Noodles and it tasted one-note/flat throughout because of the lack of acid as well.I shed a tear when our bbq pork bao had an undressed/underdressed coleslaw inside.Again, nothing was awful or inedible, but I could have made it better at home and that’s not what you want to walk away feeling when you walk into a restaurant with such loud, fun decor and a slogan like “Chinese Food with Attitude”. I feel like it almost does the place a disservice that the visual experience/ambiance so far outperforms the flavour.Service was a bit weird and servers seemed confused. The drinks were really good!
Food was INCREDIBLE. Service was amazing, multiple people checked in on me during my meal and made sure everything was going well and were happy to answer any questions. Two happy hour items and a happy hour wine ended up just over $25 - really well priced for the size and quality of what you get! Highly recommend the pork bao bun and chili wonton!
This was a really good experience. The service was delightful and the dishes were unique and delicious. Very good choices for vegetarians. And the cocktail creations were top notch. I highly recommend.
We recently had dinner at Old Bird and ordered the Salted Egg Yolk chicken, BBQ pork baos and Ragu fried rice. We were seated with a group of 11 people and our food took almost an hour before we got our entrees. Although we waited a while for our food, the appetizers were delicious (maybe even better than our main). Their brunch menu looks very appealing, so we'll come back for that and hope for speedier service.
I recently dined at this restaurant. I have to give 5 stars because everything here was on point. The sweet and sour prawns were uniquely prepared. Brussel sprouts delicious. Jasmine our server was top notch !! Clean and pleasing space, nice ambient vibe, and very outstanding interior design and colour. I highly recommend and I look forward to my next visit. :)
I was expecting better. The menu looked interesting, good cocktail list, very nice dining room. We ordered cocktails, they arrived some time after the food (hint: if you bring the drinks fast, we will spend more money). The food was average but pricy. Chili wontons were probably the best, the fried rice was below the standard of most Chinese places. worst of all was the service. They really didn't seem to care, waiting staff frequently stopped to chat to each other or the colleague who was sitting drinking at the bar. When an order of bubble teas arrived from outside the wait-staff jumped up and down like excited kids and forgot all about their tables for a couple of minutes. This place could be good. A little more attention to the food and a lot more attention to the customers should do it. I'm glad we went. I'm more glad that we won't be going back.
The ambience is awesome however if you are well travelled around Asia and your family is very Asian then this is fusion Chinese food! Though the menu is very creative, the price is definitely quite high! It's a place I have always wanted to check out and I did and that's good enough. Totally for hipsters though I loved the ambiance!
Had high hopes for this place, but was let down. The only bonus is that it has a really cool atmosphere. The service wasn’t great - took them 25 mins to take our drink order and the food was not authentic or even decent. I wouldn’t go back.
The ambiance is cute and the service was great but the food was average. The food wasn't astounding but not horrible. We went to this place because all the other places had no availability and long wait list. The fried veggies had clumps of uncooked batter, the noodles were sticking together and none of the flavours were that amazing.Truth be told, this is a place you bring your friends that are not use to Chinese food , an intro to Chinese food. I would totally bring my Kelowna girlfriends here! However, I would NOT recommend bringing your foodie friends or Chinese/Asian family members here - unless you want to be disowned by them or disgrace the family name ?Also reading the other reviews, the flavours fell flat, which I agree. I get they are a fusion place - food with a Chinese attitude but the flavours are lacklustre. I have been to other fusion places where the food and flavours come through! If you are person who don't like strong flavours - this is the place for you. I see that everyone has said their service is great and it's true.
Went on a whim, will be back soon! Outstanding service, cocktails, atmosphere and service, option for carnivores and vegans alike! Try the cucumber salad!
