Traditional Hong Kong style cafe fare, from comfort food like French toast to HK style tea.
Got some cakes and bakery buns here. The store looked smaller than other Newer Maxim’s but the lady there was quite nice. They take cash only. The cake pieces looked smaller but taste was great!
Great service, a good selection of pastries and other baked things such as pork buns. The bread is noteworthy, they have raisin as well!
Legit Hong Kong Style cafe, this place is one of my go-to’s for Chinese food in Chinatown. ?. Love their meal sets.
Best steamed buns in vancouver. We used to go to another place but this place is much better value for your money. Filling is much more generous ( more filling vs mostly bun) and overallSize is huge too
Been coming here on and off for the last 20+ years. In my opinion, this is one of the best Hong Kong style cafe in Vancouver that has upheld the quality of food throughout the years! It has the perfect balance between quality, quantity and price. Although I do not live close to Chinatown but I will always pay a visit when I'm in the area. Their hong kong style white cream sauce/soup varieties is one of the best in Vancouver. Can't beat their all day breakfast! Don't forget to get their pineapple bun with a slice of butter! :)
I must apologize for taking so much time to giving Maxim’s the 5 + stars it deserves. We have been enjoying their bakery’s light and delicious cakes for many years. Very well priced and friendly staff. Cash only but I can live with that. Now, I realize that they have a restaurant upstairs ! I can hardly wait to check it out.
Maxim’s Bakery and Restaurant in Chinatown is the first store that the owner opened more than 40 years ago. It has been at the same location and definitely has withstood test of time. Ground level is the bakery that you could buy fresh baked goods as well as cakes. I have noticed their Chinese buns are getting smaller and prices have gone up.The Hong Kong style cafe restaurant is on the 2nd floor. It has been a while since I’ve been to the restaurant but my favourite is the house special chow mein.
The food here is absolutely delicious and such sizable proportions for a very reasonable price! The flavors give me such a homely feeling? Highly recommended!
Great food, great prices still, good friendly efficient service! What you can expect from a classic HK cafe - one of the few good ones left in the city. I'm glad they've survived through covid - let's keep supporting these small businesses!
