I cannot say enough great things about this establishment. Our waitress first of all, was so tentative, personal and considerate! We didn't catch her name but she was such a joy to have serve us for the evening. Like most people we looked over thr reviews before dining at Les Faux Bourgeois, and found that a lot of people recommend the grilled squid and beef tartare. Let me tell you, the squid was so tender, you wouldn't even think it's squid. So juicy and succulent. The beef tartare was the star of the evening, I can see why they also have an entree size! It was amazingly tasty and full of flavour. A must try if you are trying this restaurant for the first time. For our mains we got the confit duck and the special which was a crispy pork chop with asparagus and a sort of salad. Everything was super yummy and we will definitely come back to try the other menu items!
Just happened to see this place driving by, and it piqued my interest. The reviews really do it justice..the food was amazing and the service as equally as great! We got the beef carpaccio, escargot to start, and the pork chop special and steak frites for our mains. Also got a creme brule and a lemon tart to go. Everything was cooked perfectly, and portions are very generous.
Ok service was pretty busy so our food came in longer than expected. This was hyped way too much by the comments but food was not great. Bread was stale. Butter was very hard. We got clams and it was sub par. Mushroom risotto is like 75% mushrooms and 15%risotto and my plate had hair. Haven't even eaten 1/4 of my risotto and they still charged me for it. My cocktail is probably good for one more sip but the waiter took it already and didn't even ask me if I want another one. Chocolate mousse tasted like something you made from the box they sell at supermarket made fancy with a creme on top. Iced tea was like lemon juice. Was not impressed. Would not go back here and do not recommend this to anyone.
Excellent French café. Unpretentious with fine dining. The tartare de boeuf, steak frîtes, french onion soup and duck confit were equal to other restaurants but half the price. More café than dining room. A bottle of Chateaubeuf du Pape and the evening is complete. We highly recommend this spot.
One of the best French restaurants in Vancouver. Amazing food and great cost benefit. In my opinion, even one of the best restaurants in general.
Really reminded me of sitting in a bistro in Paris. Great place if you want some well-priced French food in a cozy restaurant. They have plexiglass dividers between tables, great French food, and attentive service. Only con was that the bathrooms were a bit sketchy & Amex isn’t accepted. We got there at exactly 5PM and were able to be promptly seated as a walk-in. Had the tenderloin steak which had a wonderfully succulent centre, but I thought the crust was over-salted. Crème brûlée was perfectly done & at $8 was a great deal.
Nice little restaurant with a good atmosphere. The tables are tiny and the lights are dim, good for a date night. The canard confit was very good, but I wish the appetizer Mon Pleasant Picnic had more cheese and chacuterie options.
Amazing place. Celebrated Valentines Day here with my wife and had a lovely window seat for the evening. The staff were knowledgeable and polite, and the ambiance was cozy and warm. The food was next level. I had the duck and my wife had the tenderloin, both were seasoned to perfection and rich and vibrant in flavor. It made us feel like we were experiencing old dishes for the first time again. I cannot say enough good about this place. Worth every penny.
Food and service were amazing. So good I'd consider moving closer just so I could visit this restaurant more often.
Besides the deliscious food, staff were awesome!
