L’Ufficio is a perfect idea in a perfect spot. It says on La Quercia’s website that L’Ufficio - the sister wine bar next door & internally linked to LQ - caters to the undecided, but looking for an interesting place to have a casually-oriented business meeting, I decided immediately L’U was absolutely the place to go. First off, I knew L’U was part of LQ, sharing a kitchen for many dishes offered, given the two are internally linked, albeit the emphasis at L’U is on the Italian tradition of small plates of mostly cheeses, salamis, & pates. Indeed: The two Italian eateries, the one opened in 2008 & the other in 2013 were both the creation of the dynamic chef duo of Lucais Syme & Adam Pegg, who have since parted to take up different positions in Vancouver’s Italian restaurant landscape. And secondly, it is just my kind of eating arrangement, one I had partaken in many times on my three trips to Italy. My pro bono client - I gave my time & ideas to him at no charge & he picked up the tab for the meal & drinks we had during our working session - immediately agreed it was the place for our business work-out. I had wanted to go since it opened but it coincided with my life being turned upside down & now the time had come. We arrived there just after it opened at 5.p.m & already the bar area was too full to add another two people & so we were seated at a table just in from the window. The food was, as expected, delicious. We had small plates as well as two bigger dishes which I understand came from LQ’s kitchen. The atmosphere was good & we even got chatting to fellow diners at the next table. Bravo. All very good but for one odd thing. The woman who met us when we arrived & seated us was not very friendly & her demeanor remained distant serving us for the time we were there, an attitude which seemed totally at odds with the general atmosphere of L’U & with what I knew of the great three-part team at LQ & its serving staff. L’U menus are written on boards behind the bar & from the viewing angle from our table, they were difficult to read. Again, strangely, the woman who served us seemed put out having to help us read them. The younger person, who helped her with bringing the dishes was, while sometimes tentative, seemingly based on being young in the game, very helpful. We were certainly good & polite guests. As I say, it was odd & in no way stops me highly recommending L’U &, as readers will see, I have given it the highest five-button rating, merely putting it down to her maybe feeling the pressures of being in the business a longer time, or having a very bad day. The Italian duo are open for takeaways Tues to Sat from 5 p.m. & the precautions taken on avoiding touching etc. are gold standard, as a reviewer noted. Bravo again. Posted by S Fuller

Both restaurants have a great atmosphere, excellent service, fantastic and delicious food, and the wines are amazing.

Very tasty italian with a genuine atmosphere and excellent Tuscan style meals. While on the more pricey side, well worth the experience.

fresh local porcini dish and really good olive oil. friendly staff...

(Translated by Google) Exceptional as always. Matteo is the best, a great one.(Original)Eccezionale come sempre. Matteo è il migliore, un grande.

Memorable dining experience - casual yet fine dine. Authentic Italian feel, great service () and even better food. Very comfortable and nice setting. Extra points for the music (Piano Man, Dream Theater, AC/DC). had the Arancini (tooooo good), Veal with Tuna (Vitello Tonnato), Bigoli Chicken Ragu (this was average), Lemon Cream Citrus (aced it), cheese with Pine Honey (too good again). Highly recommended! Worth the price. Negorni was one the best!
