This restaurant was highly regarded by my girlfriend so I had to go; and, oh boy, it did not disappoint. I went with my girlfriend and 2 others; I was glad there were 4 of us so we could order and try more! We couldn’t make reservations as it was already booked to the max but luckily they take walk in. We got lucky and only waited about 40 mins for a table. We ordered Yam Tempura, Bluefin Negitoro roll, Salmon Oshi, Ebi Oshi, Unagi Oshi, Saba Oshi and Spicy Tuna Oshi. I honestly don’t remember how the Yam Tempura and Bluefin Negitoro roll were but I’m sure they were good; they were out shined by the boxed sushi. We originally only ordered the Unagi Oshi and the Salmon Oshi, but they were soo good we ordered the Ebi Oshi, Saba Oshi and Spicy Tuna Oshi. My favourite was Unagi Oshi but you can’t go wrong with any of them! I will be definitely coming back.
Can’t really tell how fresh the fish is at this place. The sauce that they use in the torched sushi is delicious. Fav was the shrimp then eel and then salmon.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!! This restaurant was unpretentious, with fast service. Each dish had a gorgeous, artistic presentation. The Dragon Roll and seasonal tempura had subtle and delicate flavours. Melt-in-your mouth sashimi topped off our evening. Unbelievable value for incredible food.
A really fancy Japanese restarting in a post of Vancouver that's not known for high end restaurant. The prices are on the high side but the quality is worth it. They make some really unique sushi pieces that I've not seen anywhere else. The nabeyaki udon is also incredible. The broth is so flavourful and the ingredients are really well prepared. Two troll thumbs up!!!+(O____o)+
There are a lot of good places to eat sushi in Vancouver but Kishimoto serves up cuisine that not only pleases your taste buds but your nose, eyes, and soul! Here you can have food that changes your appreciation for what food is and should and could be. I can’t wait to be back!
Amazing karaage (probably best one I’ve ever had), high quality sashimi and great food in general. I only missed a better variety of desserts and drinks to give 5 stars.
The food is amazing! The udon soup broth is the best I have ever tried so far! Sashimi is super fresh and they take on a very eye catching and detailed food presentation!
My favourite Japanese restaurant ever. It run by the nicest people, the staff are basically like a family. The photos I took aren’t even all of it, the food is beautiful and tastes even better!!! The black cod misozuke literally melts in you mouth!!!They have a seasonal menu which is always delicious. They source foods locally when they can! They are always trying to create new dishes. I can’t wait for the bar seating to open back up so we can watch and chat with the chefs!!When I have friends and family visit Vancouver, this is always the first place I want to bring them!!Here one tip I have if you are new: get the smoked Oshi!!!! It melts in your mouth and leaves a Smokey flavour that lingers even minutes after you are done.
The plating and design of each dish is quite nice. We enjoyed the uni soba especially. Listed in the photo are the unagi oshi, 4 types sashimi, and burdock oat milk "cappuccino" soup. However - if a restaurant is going to go with higher end prices and small portions focusing on "finer dining," then your service should match it. Not once did anyone ask how the food was going - we had to keep leaving finished plates on the edge of our table for them to notice and clear away. Even when paying, we were left with the machine and the server just walked right off. While we were nicely asked to make our departure due to a waitlist present, the overall poor service didn't enhance our dining experience. This isn't a niche style of Japanese dining - there are many other locations in Vancouver that do similar but with much better attentive service.
Gorgeous presentation of delicious dishes. Always a lovely experience every time we go. Staff are kind, and service is great.
