The food at this establishment is adequate overall, however, the service I received from the staff soured my dining experience. Despite the fact that my party had arrived at the restaurant and waited prior to the official opening time, it took over an hour to bring out the five dishes that we had ordered. Individuals who had come in significantly later than we had ended up finishing up their meals while we were continuing to wait for all of our food to be presented. After a while, we finally had to ask a waiter to check on the status of the remainder of our order, which they had forgotten. We received no apologies for their error as you could imagine was quite frustrating.Ironically, when it came time for the requesting of the check, it amazingly appeared within 30 seconds. As I was submitting a 5% tip, the waiter, who had been hovering over me, immediately inquired, “Was there something wrong?”. I explained my frustrations about the service, and was met with a lack of an apology once again. He tries to explain how some food may have taken longer than others to cook up, and I responded to the fact that other parties who had came in later had similar dishes served before us. Again, no apology, along with a passive-aggressive and dismissive, “Thank you, good bye.” to quickly get us out of the restaurant. We are all human beings and we all make errors. If the employees would have just accepted the error and made a simple apology, I would have been understanding. The food may be good but eventually the poor service will be more than enough to drive people away.
Warning, reservations need for Sunday Dim Sum. Was walking in the neighborhood deciding on what we should eat and on the spur of the moment decided Dim Sum was going to be my Sunday jam.Went inside, encountered the front reception staff, oops, "sorry no tables, restaurant full, no reservation, no food" I put on my biggest disappointment frown and threw out my "Thai card", "but I came all the way from Thailand to try out your dim sum"' lol and behold they managed to squeeze me in, great service.Dim sum was top qualify. Their dan dan noodle soup was especially savory, nice peanut flavoured broth, noodles perfectly cooked al dente.Har Gao filled with big plump crunchy shrimp, other dim sum dishes just as good. Nice leisurely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I specifically requested not to poot any squid in my meal that cost$36 but they did it anyway and there is a piece of chicken or pork in it. The veggies don't look that fresh and the souse doesn't taste as good as last time. It Looks like somebodies left overs.
Might be the only dim sum place in DT?Small seating, but clean and modern interior. Service is okay, food is a bit above average. Most of the clientele is non-Asian here, so food quality should be pretty good for them. It’s just very convenient for us, no need to drive to Richmond for dim sum.
Kirin showcases Chinese cuisine in an authentic atmosphere. It has 4 branches in Downtown, West Vancouver, Richmond, & New Westminster.❗️ If you don’t know authentic Chinese food, whether don’t go there or go with a Chinese friend.❕So, if you are on yourself there, order many dim sums with different tastes which is a safer option. Menu is huge and there are dozens of food there. This high number causes confusion and probably wrong orders.?? Servers are all surprisingly men. They try to be respectful, yet not that nice.✅ Kirin is an award-winning restaurant renowned for its dim sums.Suggestions (Lunch Menu):* Numbers 1, 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18. They are all generic dim sums with less risk.* You always have the option to choose different noodles like number 58 (Shanghai style noodle).? Numbers 33 (steamed pureed egg yolk) & 37 (egg custard tart) are delicious to have as dessert.Enjoy!?
Service staff, place and food were all great but the price is just too high. Peking duck two ways were mouth watering though.
Delicious food! Enjoyed all the dishes! My favorites would have to be the spare ribs and the calamari. It does get busy but the food is fresh. I will note that the food didn't all come at once and there was waiting time between each dish. Will definitely come again!
The food and space is EXCELLENT.It’s a spacious and clean room, we were able to get a reservation for Sunday morning, quality of food and ingredients is well worth the price. We loved the Kirin at City Square and after it closed we needed a new spot. Was a little hesitant to try at first because of the reviews but so glad we did.
Staff are friendly and food is great
Great dim sum place in the heart of Vancouver. Nice and clean restaurant with presentable menu items. Service was good and we got there close to 3PM. We felt a little rushed with ordering which was understandable but then they didn't rush when eating which was nice. There's also not as many options for dim sum but the classics were all there. Siu mai and steamed shrimp dumplings were decent but I really enjoyed the squid ink bun with custard. Overall, a nice restaurant to have dim sum in the city. Would definitely come back.
