It's a pretty good burger. Sort of reminiscent of Five Guys. I'd honestly give it a four if it was a bit cheaper.Bun was soft and fresh. Meat had good flavor. Bacon was a little thin. Patty was a little small.Fries were good.As a hang out spot, the back room was poppin', but I had a toddler, so I couldn't eat there.Worth a shot!
Honestly the burgers are mediocre at best. For the price you are paying you are getting a super greasy burger with low quality ingredients. They use cheap meat and cheese and you can taste it in the burgers. The chicken sandwich is definitely better but not by much. The fries are a mystery to me….. I feel like you have to try hard to make fries that bad. I used to love this place but now their food is just gross. If the burgers were cheaper I would say you get what you pay for but they are not…..
When I found out that a former owner of the Oakwood Bistro (which is sadly long gone) now opened up Hundy, we were excited to try this place out. You see, the Oakwood burger was legendary. Their kale salad was also a favourite of ours.At Hundy we had a couple of cheeseburgers, but they forgot to put the cheese on! So we mentioned it then got some “attitude” in return. Hundy is nowhere close to the quality of the Oakwood burger. The quality of the meat was inferior. Why not just bring back the Oakwood burger as an item on the menu and charge extra for the more expensive ingredients? People who want a premium burger would gladly pay for it. It seems like a no brainer to me. Especially when the owner already knows how to make a legendary burger. If they did that, and didn’t try to save on their food costs, but actually brought back the genuine Oakwood burger of old, then we would make the trip out from Coquitlam quite often, and we would bring friends along with us, especially if the former Oakwood kale salad was brought back. For one of my wife’s birthdays we went with about 20 people to the Oakwood Bistro and everyone raved about the Oakwood burger. When you have already created a legendary burger why would you not include it on the menu after opening a dedicated burger shop like Hundy? Makes no sense to me. Many people in Vancouver are not stupid. They can tell the difference in quality.I’ll give it a 2/5 based on a honest review of the burgers we had at Hundy (with Hundy sauce in it), but our disappointment with them for not having anything remotely close to the famous Oakwood burger of old makes me feel like giving them a 1/5.
I had the beef brisket sandwich and a bunch of tots and, my oh my, was I happy with choice. Great staff too. Neat little shop attached. Definitely would go back.
Solid place. It's called "Their There" in the daytime, but changes its name at night. You can still order their burgers when it's a "lunch time coffee bar"The burgers are good, little messy, but good. The coffee, for me, was too acidic. But I'm not going to reduce the score for it, as some people like acidic coffee. Also, by the time you see this, they may have already changed their daily brew.
Great. Had the chicken burger. Beware they don't have their regular menu, which I came to try, as they're going through growing pains from all the success and business. Apparently a standalone thing happening soon
Great tasting food. Ordered the hot chicken sandwich and the side salad. The inside of the restaurant had a mix of a coffee/wine/dessert place vibe.
Yummy! Finally got around to trying this place and it did not disappoint. My favourite was the Nashville hot chicken, friend loved the bacon cheeseburger (not my favorite but still the best burger I've had in years!).But wait . . . then there's the crazy good donuts: we had the mochi donut (chewy perfection) and the breakfast cruller (great cruller!).The shop itself is beautiful and the staff are great.Certainly will go again
Used to frequent here pretty often when dine in service still existed. Always had a phenomenal time, speedy and efficient service with very personable wait staff who seemingly have now been replaced by cashiers.. not to mention the food has always been top notch each and every time I have made the visit. However, upon my last visit, I noticed things have gone very south. A previous full table service restaurant, has gone to counter service similar to McDonalds but more triple the price. We sat outside but had to go inside to order. When the food arrived it came bagged and stapled shut?? No offerings of salt/pepper/ketchup or anything. The burgers also don’t come with fries anymore but the price does not reflect this. Anyways, $100 to get mediocre counter service—no thanks. I’ll hit up Fat Burger next time I’m craving a Burger and Beerburger was good though
SAO GOOOOOD!! Hands down best chicken sandwich I’ve had! The chicken thigh was fried to perfection and paired so well with the fresh zesty slaw and chewy brioche bun. It was a tad pricey at $12 for just a sandwich but it was actually quite filling. Fries were also freshly fried and oh so crispy! Will be back for sure!
