Had a craving for fried oysters recently and decided to try out Harbour (so difficult to find a place that makes good fried oysters).Located on The Drive, they have a happy hour menu that starts at 11am (hello $2 oysters on the half shell).While we were originally planning to have fried oysters, we decided to go for the pan seared instead and I'm glad we did. Nice light panko crust.Oyster Rockefeller were good too. Small oysters but bacon, shallots, spinach, and cheese? Come on!The unexpected surprise was how good the crab cakes were. I've had lots of crab cakes that turn out dry but the ones here were nice and moist on the inside.
When my date found out I had never tried oysters she brought me here. I'm glad she did. Nice sidewalk patio, great happy hour menu, and they were ok with our small canine friend! I only wish I could remember the name of our server, she really made it a memorable experience, had a great sense of humor and walked me through the wonderful ritual of sauces and preparations. It was terrific, fresh and I can't wait to return to check off some more seafood "firsts"!
I wish I could give a negative rating for the service. The food was great, but I'd still never go back for such apathetic service. Upon reading other negative reviews it's amply clear that so many others have faced negative experiences with their servers, and there seems to be a similar pattern in all the negative reviews - racist behaviour of certain servers. Some of these reviews are from a while ago and have clearly not been addressed. I've been to so many restaurants in the neighbourhood and this has by far been the worst service I've come across. It seems to be an establishment that perpetuates this behavior - people of colour need to be wary. I wish we were prepared with this knowledge when we stepped in.
Really fresh oysters are the calling card. The mussels are also excellent. Their fish n chips deserve to be rated amongst the best on the west coast. We searched for the best fries in Calgary and Vancouver. Their fries are the best. Crispy and flavourful. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the food.
Great atmosphere in a lively pub/restaurant. Good (mainly fish) menu with a couple of meat options to cater for all. Decent portions and friendly service. A big selection of beers, spirits and cocktails. We'll worth a visit and good value.
Went on a cloudy Saturday to avoid long line ups! Happy hour starts 11-5pm everyday - nowhere else would you ever see a whole day of happy hour. Got the lobster rolls, chowda, oysters, fried oysters and mussels (not pictured). Everything was fresh and flavourful, my cravings were heavenly satisfied. I suggest sitting by the bar to catch good vibes and watch oysters get shucked :)
We had an excellent experience at Harbour. Our bartender was friendly and helpful, the steamer clams were delicious and my husband enjoyed his freshly shucked oysters.Came here for happy hour which highly recommend!
We ordered Lobster poutine with fried oyster. They were Fresh and tasty. Then for the main we had those amazing lobster shrimp roll.Would love to go back!!!
Been here two times and received unfriendly service. We came here based on recommendation but were very disappointed / shock upon an unprofessional attitude of a female staff. She did not seem happy having us, throwing the check on the table.The first time we thought we were sensitive but the second time.. cant be mistaken right? Not sure if this is some sort of discrimination over visitors. I would not come back and you all should be careful !!
I had a wonderful and surprised lunch at the Harbour Oyster Bar yesterday , after along meeting in the area , my business associate told me she will take me to a well keep secret restaurant around the corner , only fussy foodie like me will appreciate their quality ! I just smile , and thinking oh no , more pizza ! surprised it is a small seafood and oyster restaurant , tablets limited , but clean and comfortable , they have the Happy Hours menu from 11 am to 5 pm , of course you can order off the regular menu too , very helpful and friendly staff , and the price is excellent , their signature raw oyster only $1.50 (local ) from 11am to 5 pm , we past the raw oysters and order the Rockefeller Oysters , Crab cake , Mussels with white wine , Caesar Salad to share , Oulala ! the quality is super fresh and good size's portion , under $100 , most restaurants these days for good seafood meal will charge you arm and a leg ! it is truly a gem place if you love seafood ,also they do have a lot of choices if you do not like seafood , my associate is right , best keep secret seafood restaurant on Commercial Dr ! so if you looking for a great budget seafood place or oysters restaurant , Harbour Oyster & bar is the place ! but they do not take reservation so try to avoid the rush hours . I am coming back 100% for the Rockefeller !
