Quality ramen that has great and complex flavours.Tried three different bowls, the Shio, Tonkotsu, and the TanTan Mein. Each one has a distinct flavour and texture that shows there is craft put into making them unique.Complexity shines over simplicity here.
Super let down and a huge anticipation resulted in a massive disappointment, this joint has been on my list for ages and I was so stoked to go but completely let down.We turned up and informed after being sat down that they had limited options and could only make ramen due to construction problems. The Wakame Salad tasted nothing like Seaweed and was a shameful handful of unwashed lettuce with 4 cut up soggy pieces of tofu. The service was pretty terrible without sounding too harsh, but I had to ask for basic things all the time like filling up empty glasses of water. Restroom was also out of service. The Ramen was pretty yummy and featured tasty chewy noodles in fairness and was one of the best veggie ramens I have had in a while.. nice and spicy , but a poor experience overall and hence unfortunately a poor reflection.
Delicious Ramen, and as a vegetarian, there was a great selection of veggie options. When we went they only had Ramen available and not anything else on the menu due to construction on the road outside (I assume because of supply not being able to deliver outside on the road). This wasn't an issue, however we asked if they had tofu and Wakame salad which they happened to have in, but when it came majority of it was just green lettuce with only small amounts of seaweed. I wouldn't have paid for it if I had known it was mainly just leaf salad. Apart from this, the Ramen itself was great and made up for it!
Ordered from uber eats, put a notes that say to sub the egg to anything and got extra chashu instead :) feeling surprised that this restaurant willing to go above and beyond to it's customer, not many restaurant do that anymore! I'm pregnant and not able to eat the half cooked egg (onsen egg) that's the reason I ask for substitute. I have been holding myself to order ramen, yet gyoza para did not disappoint! :) Thank you!!!
I loved my lunch at Gyo Para. The service was quick and professional, the waiter can give a good advice uf you are a newcomer and get lost in ramens ?? I opted for a VEGGIE TANTANMEN which was very delicious. The broth was super creamy, nutty and had a hint if chilli and garlic, not overwhelming but just giving the right kick ?? if you are nuts lover, this could be your long-time favourite. The mix of cashew, peanuts and roasted sesame seeds was an amazing blend. The noodles are medium thick, which is pretty unusual for most Van's ramens which tend to exploit thin noodles. I loved the texture and right chewiness, though I would have maybe reduced egg quantity in the dough. The veggies were cooked al dente, a wonderfully emerald bok choy and fresh spring onion. The best thing about this dish was a GROUND TOFU which blended splendidly with all its crumbles and pieces into the creamy heavenly goodness of the nutty broth.5 stars, really ?? The price tag was also to praise for, 14 dollars for this veggies delight.
Easily the best ramen I've ever had. The pork belly was tender, the noodles were cooked perfectly (I prefer firmer noodles), and the broth was hearty yet light. The atmosphere was great as well. Friendly staff and the smooth jazz music helped create a calming place. Would gladly come back on my next trip out!
Got the tonkotsu premium ramen and it was top notch. Had plenty of toppings and a rich, flavourful broth but not too greasy either.
Best ramen place around! Go here all the time. Great space and I love the cozy jazz music they play. Gyozas are to die for, and the ramen is just as good, if not better, than Ramen Danbo. Tonkotsu, Tantanmen, Miso, all are amazing. Typically no wait as well!
The food was good and well priced but the service was pretty awful. I've gone there 3 times now and each time it's been just as bad. It's a shorter asian woman that's always been there. The first time she messed up 2/4 of our orders. The second time she took 20 minutes to serve me a bottle of beer. The last one she came to take our order but rushed so quickly and ran away so she didn't take our add ons or drinks. I tried waving her over, she looked at me and would look away. So I went up to her and she sneared at me, put her hand in my face and shooed me away. It was another 15-20 minutes until she actually came back to our table. Then when we asked for drinks she nearly insisted for us not to order them because they'd take a while (made me think she just didn't want to serve them). That last time she did warn us that they were busy, but only half of the tables had occupants and I didn't see many take out orders at all. I was a waitress for a few years so I can understand being busy but she really made me feel like she just didn't want to be doing her job and that all of the customers were nuisances to her. The only reason we'd gone back a few times was because my bf loves the food and he said there used to be an amazing Male waiter. But we're never going back now, it's not worth it if I leave with steam coming out of my ears because of how disrespected I feel.
I'm a ramen lover and have been to all big shops around Vancouver. Gyo Para is a standout for their traditional family recipes and attention to detail. It's really a family run shop! I've tried nearly the whole menu now, and never been disappointed, it really feels (and tastes!) like my time in Japan. The tonkotsu is rich and robust, the veggie tantanmen is probably the best vegetarian/vegan bowl in Vancouver! Not to mention veggie gyozas as well, they're excellent, well balanced fillings. Really appreciate the options.Plus, the interior vibes are very chill, love the jazzy ambience, and the servers are really nice and polite.
