great loved it, but we reserved a table and they forgot about it. 3/5 service just bc of that but really fun and kind people! very good food!
Awesome food and drinks, nice service. The entire restaurant is very Japanese style. If you like Izakaya, this is the best place to go.
Salmon yukke is still one of my favorites, but they stopped doing the baby egg on top it seems. Overall the portions were pretty small for the price but all the dishes still tasted great and were cooked perfectly. Squid was tender and beef was flavourful.
We're in downtown for the Anime Convention. My son has been watching an anime that's about an Izakaya that serves amazing food. He said he wanted to try it. We looked for a restaurant close to our hotel, and we picked Guu Original as it was walking distance. What a great vibe. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The servers were all so polite and served us with a smile.The food came quickly. We had 3 appetizers for $14. We ordered the Smoked Sausage with Carrot Sauce, Grilled Capelin and Fish Cake Tempura. They all definitely paired well with the Japanese IPA that I tried. It was very refreshing.For our mains, we ordered the the Assorted Sashimi on Sushi Rice and the Grilled Pork Belly. They were all so fresh and delicious. The pork belly had no gaminess at all.I'll definitely go back to try the rest of the menu. My son really enjoyed his first Izakaya experience.

As always, itâs a consistent meal and in todayâs inflationary times, this particular Guu holds itâs value very well with more than reasonable prices.

What an experience! Our first time at a place like this and especially as vegetarians, it did not disappoint. The staff went out of their way to welcome us, help us decide what to get as vegetarians, made some really tasty food and sent us off as enthusiastically as we were welcomed in. 100% will try again next time we visit Vancouver
