I've been twice within the last month. The first time my dining partner and I were not acknowledged for a good 5 minutes. We finally seated ourselves. Once seated, it took awhile before the bartender greeted us (we sitting close to the bar). It took another while before a server arrived. Did I mention there were only 5 customers in the place? At least the food was decently prepared (a burger and fish tacos). The second time, a different dining companion wanted to go because "it was close by". This time we were acknowledged in a more timely manner, but the server was hardly pleasant. It seemed she wanted to be anywhere but there. This time the fish in the fish and chips had a batter that was slightly crisp upon arrival, but progressively soggier as time passed. The chicken wings were ok.Not likely to go back...no matter how convenient a location.
We went on game day (which we didn't realise) so if your going to catch up with friend you haven't seen in 3years...skip game day ? (I have no voice now!) Drinks were great, really good selection, we had the mini corn dogs which were delicious, and the staff were super friendly and attentive even though it was packed! Great little bar
This place is in my neighborhood but we had not been in since before the pandemic started. When we stopped in for dinner recently, we were promptly seated at a good window table. Now I know it's a sports bar, but does the volume have to be so LOUD? We frequent other local places often so we're used to how noisy they are, but within 2 minutes we made the decision to leave. We'll try again I suppose, but that was an earsplitting deal breaker... 2 stars instead of one for the initial service
Lovely experience at the colony! Even though it was busy the server took her time with the table and was very attentive, told me about the beverages and recommended some dishes that were all really good! I came because I was told that it was a hotspot in Vancouver and I’ll definitely be going back because of the wonderful service and food!
Had an amazing evening at Colony Main St. Friday evening. My group of 5 and I were seriously impressed with the quality of our food, all pub grub but really tasty and came out quickly. Our server was incredibly on point making sure all at the table had full drinks, meals, desserts….whatever we needed; Thanks Aly! Even the music was fun and lively and a good mix of older and newer stuff. The whole group commented on how well taken care of we felt. Absolutely going back!!
Some staff were very abrupt and rude. We had a terrible experience at the so-called friendly and famous neighbourhood bar. Countless examples in just one single night… asking for our vaccination passport in a bad manner; pushing us at the back when we were standing around; making unrealistic accusation when a friend of us tried to defend for herself. Do not go to this bar if you are looking for friendly service.
Was served and ate raw chicken that had me sick and puking all night. The servers were rude and did nothing about it when it was brought to their attention.
Great place for pints, yummy food with great choices, Sunday caesars & brunch! Friendly, easy going staff and was very impressed with a server I’ve had a couple times now, “Ally” She is very friendly and attentive. They have games nights with great prizes. Definitely recommend this place!
Great environment with really tasty pub food. I don’t know how busy this place gets on certain days, but it was relatively dead on the Monday I went. Nonetheless, they have solid deals on beers, making it worth checking out. The colony downtown seems to be a different vibe; this location is a lot more tame.
I have been here lots between midday and 7pm and it's fantastic. Well priced beers with good variety, really nice food (poutine is up there), always playing some sport and service spot on. So between those hours, it is your ideal spot to hanker down with some beers and watch some football with friends. To note though, last week I went on a Friday night.. And the place turned into a super loud hip-hop haven.. But with sport playing.. And people seated conversing. It just felt like an identity crisis - either turn down the music volume, leave sport on and let people converse comfortably, or turn all sport off, ramp up the volume and let the music vibe take over.. Being halfway between just wasn't working out for me, but it might for you..?
