Tried a new breakfast/brunch spot on Canada Day. Deacons is located on outskirts of Gastown.Restaurant is a hidden gem. First the restaurant is very clean. Considering the area, floors are clean and tables sanitized. They even put a sanitized sticker on the tables for your peace of mind. Great touch. And decor was amazing with a lot of old signs to see.Service was also fantastic. Everyone was friendly and helpful and all had a smile on their faces. You couldn't help feeling upbeat.Food was amazing. I had the pull pork pancakes. The pull pork was moist (even though it look dry) and a bit sweet. Worked well with the pancakes and eggs. We also had the beef burger which came on a artisan bun. The bun put the burger over the top on flavourful. My son loved it.Also ordered the chicken biscuit gravy. Lots of gravy, chicken was tender, overall great select.Big helping on the food, we'll worth the price! I must add that if the food item has a choice of small or large, pick the small.Definitely a favorite of ours now. We'll be back to try other items like French toast.Give Deacons Corner a try, you won't be disappointed!
Always delicious. Miss the old staff, but the new staff is also great!
The “big mountie” was my choice of breakfast when we visited. I was not disappointed. Still drooling at the thought of its massive proportions and layers of tastes. Maple syrup is a must with this.
Meat Lovers Hash. Very good with 2 eggs made the way you like. They got over medium perfect. Also tried the Classic Benny's and perfectly poached medium as well.
Old school diner décor with friendly staff (complete with red booth tables). It’s a pretty spacious restaurant. There is decently priced parking nearby (I think it was around $2/hour, meter parking) that is within a 5 min walk from the restaurant. It is a slightly sketchy area though.MONSTROUS burger with 2pc of fried chicken and Chipotle mayo. They only use chicken breast so it can get a tad dry. I also liked their buttermilk biscuit, served with sausage gravy and more chicken. Definitely super filling.Bonus points for having milk alternatives available with the coffee. My order:Chicken Giant Burger ($19.75)Chicken & Biscuits w/ Gravy ($16)Coffee
Went today and was so disappointed with the food. It was basically inedible. Waffles came out cold and soggy and had definitely been sitting in the kitchen for hours. Chicken was bland and cold. Just awful.
One of the last outposts of affordable breakfast/brunch downtown!I loved going to this place when I lived nearby. Of you're looking for your fix of full plated breakfast foods, this is the spot. They have the perfect diner coffee that is just strong enough, and just weak enough so you can drink three cups and feel fine after ;P. Service is very friendly. The ambience is great, those sweet pleather benches... Yes!Check it out
After a long night at a company Christmas party , I had the privilege of being introduced to Deacons corner. The wait to be seated was long but WORTH IT. As a biscuit and gravy connoisseur of sorts , I was pleasantly surprised they had the comfort food I desperately needed after a long night of doubles at an open bar. It was everything I craved and more. WELL DONE to the chef. Add chicken to the biscuit and gravy meal with a side of cornbread. You're welcome in advance. 25 out of 5 stars. Why are you still reading this? Go there NOW
Went on Saturday and had a little wait to get seated. The place is dinerish and good old timey feel. Food was good. We did have a homeless guy come in and steal my Mountie sandwich right off the pass. It was pretty funny and I guess he was hungry. All in all pretty good place.
This is the best breakfast and the worst table service I’ve ever had. Two weeks in a row I’ve come here for the most epic breakfast in the city (where else do you get biscuits and gravy in van?) and both times I was left unattended for almost half an hour after eating. I am currently at my table with an empty coffee mug and an empty plate pushed to the very edge of the table, and it’s been 23 minutes and counting.
