Clean, bright restaurant with delicious food (best savoury, eggy French Toast in town) and cheerful attentive service. The coffee is always good and the refills are frequent. During Covid this slowly transitioned from "place I go to from time to time" to "place I got to 2 or 4 times a week!" They even give you two minty chocolate squares with your bill, so you can look forward to paying. And the music is audible but soft. I can't think of any negative. Oh, and while the pancakes are Dutch-style pannenkoek, the menu includes benedicts, omelettes, burgers, sandwiches, etc. etc., so there's something for everyone.

The food is as good as any other breakfast place, but to me the serving staff really make this restaurant great. I love coming with my family.

Your regular breakfast. The Dutch dishes were interesting but not that different from the western carb combinations.

I like eating the breakfast pancakes here as the pancakes are thin like a crepe but it covers the whole plate. There are many toppings to put on your pancake such as eggs, fruit toppings, meat toppings etc. Their menu is more than just pancakes- omelettes, burgers, sandwiches so something for every taste. Street parking only. Bon appétit.

Quick seating, gluten-free breakfast was delicious!! Close to BC Children's Hospital for a great home cooked meal! Staff are friendly & efficient!!

I liked the simple aesthetic with it's distinctly Dutch ambience. The pancake was delightfully buttery and I enjoyed the peach raspberry sauce. De Dutch knows good rations for sauce and whipped cream and has good flavours. One small change I would like to see would be to have the small dishes on the side rather than centered on top of my pancake.

Food was SO fresh and delicious! Even got an absolutely perfect avocado!Great prices and the server was a delight! Will return! Likely lots!!

Went to this location first time today and I was so happy that everything-service, food, coffee were great! Definitely will go back again :)

Breakfast is their specialty but they stay open until early afternoon. No dinner. The DPH chain was set up by a Dutch immigrant and the menu is mostly Dutch themed. The decor although pared down now, retains a trace of its original Dutch flavour. I find the price reasonable for the large portions and decent quality of the food. The pannekoeks are the most distinctive part of the menu and are fun to eat but the sweet ones in particular (the savouries less so) are sugary although I enjoy them as treats from time to time. The breakfast platters are more substantial and familiar to North Americans (ham, eggs, toast, grilled tomatoes, grilled avocado is one.) The restaurant's chief appeal is its, I am not sure what to call lit, ambience or feel. Kind of foreign but kind of homey and familiar too. You feel like lingering over your coffee and paper or with your tablemates and conversation. The long-time servers are efficient, sociable and genuine, and are not just playing their role until the shift is over. The restaurant is at 16th and Oak. There are outdoor tables on the 16th Ave side on a wide sidewalk which does have some traffic noise but I find that one tunes it out. Indoors is well lit with natural light thanks to large windows on both sides. The covid-19 procedures have conformed to the mandates of the various stages. There is delivery and take service out but I feel comfortable eating in.
