The first time we visited we were lucky enough to get a corner seat on the patio overlooking the marina which was just perfect. We decided to share the Seaside Platter ( forno baked BBQ ribs, grilled prawns, salmon & scallops, lemon caper beurre blanc) which was ok but we were not keen on the flavour of the ribs but we had also ordered some Har Gow which made up for this as they were very tasty. Service was excellent and we had an enjoyable evening. The second visit 10 days later we were seated inside and due to the live music everybody was having to shout to be heard (the musician was good just needed turning down a fraction). This time we both ordered steaks and these were perfectly cooked and we also both had Creme Brulee as a dessert which was very good. Our server was good but given the loudness of the music we did struggle to hear him and this did spoil the evening slightly which is why I have knocked of a mark.
The basic offer here is very good. Food nice. Stunning location. There was loud live music which had the effect of 100+ diners shouting over their tables, so not really a relaxing evening. One issue resukted in our desserts being offered free, which was good of the restaurant as we didnt ask for this. The special prime rib of beef was sold out but then mysteriously appeared at the next table who arrived and ordered after we did.
Obviously a very popular spot. We arrived for our 17:30 reservation. Place was busy and people queuing to get in (a few tables inside were available but it was an hour wait for the patio). Great vibe and really fresh and tasty food. Not cheap (but probably going rate for the standard and location and Vancouver). We had the burrata special appetiser; tasty but quite a meagre portion of the burrata (compared to what you’d get in Europe). Halibut special was spectacular. Partners salmon was very good too. Two appetisers, two mains, kids meal, side of truffle fries; large wine and a double whisky CAD200 with service and taxes.
Did I just have the best prawn and scallops meal of my life? I might have! Love the place love the ambience. Highly recommended. . . . and Nowell was our outstanding waiter.
Fish entrees were beautifully prepared. We had the sockeye and halibut from the features menu. Great views with a lively atmosphere.
Food was amazing and the service impeccable. Overall great experience.
We were lucky enough to get a window table overlooking the marina which was a nice start to the evening. The restaurant interior is rather like an old wooden warehouse decorated with models of yachts, aircraft, and even a tug. It sounds a bit naff but it works and gives the restaurant a warm welcoming atmosphere. This was our first visit to Canada and everybody had said that we must try the sockeye salmon. Before that one of us had a prawn cocktail and the other a salad as a starter - both perfect. We then both had the sockeye and were left a bit underwhelmed but not having had it previously we had no bench mark. We tried sockeye later on during our holiday and enjoyed it so maybe it was down to the cooking or perhaps just a matter of taste. In any event we enjoyed the evening, service was truly excellent, and hopefully we will return one day.
Such a lovely meal last night. Amazing service and very chilled atmosphere. Despite being busy. Really great eve for our last night in Vancouver. Great find and lovely place all round. Thankyou!!
We arrived at Cardero's with weather looking questionable, but wanted to sit outside. The deck was covered, heated and even had blankets available if needed/wanted. We both had burger with 2 sides of Caesar salad and fries. All was very good. Service was great and we weren't hurried. A hard rain fell and our server encouraged dessert (on him)...who does that? Perfect!
One of the best restaurants we visited during our trip. Decent food at a reasonable price, excellent location in the harbour and close to our hotel, good service.
