I want to love this place but I felt like the server is making us feel a bit uncomfortable. She kept on up-selling and giving us a little pressure so we can keep ordering more food and drink. They do have a tremendous menu, yummy drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere, especially in the upstairs outdoor area. I have been here twice and never walk out the door without spending over $200.I do like the vibes here. Hopefully, our next visit will be a little easier by having a server acting as a server, not a salesperson.
Managed to get a seat at the bar here over the weekend which was nice as they had the option to order food. The bartenders were amazing and tentative and were amazing at answering questions and explaining the drinks it was also entertaining to see them work! The food was amazing enjoyed the sockeye salmon as well as the duck ended up being better than other restaurants that I have visited in Vancouver before that are way pricier. The ocean breeze & smoke show cocktails were recommended to us and we throughly enough both of those.
A cute spot for happy hour in Yaletown from 4-6pm! I must say it’s a little pricier than other happy hour spots but the vibes and aesthetic is quite nice. They also have ample seating and patio space. The washroom is located in a strange spot but that’s fine as well.In terms of food, my friend and I tried the fish on chip ($10), tofu kaarage ($10) and the albacore tuna negitiro ($10). Everything was tasty. My favorite was the tofu - it was still crispy while remaining soft in the inside. The aioli was amazing.Cocktails and drinks reasonably priced during happy hour - $7 for cocktails and $6 for wine.
Great service, wonderful atmosphere and good food! We had a nice anniversary dinner there.
I really wanted to like this place. They also do weddings and events therefore if they were suitable, then I wouldn't have needed to keep looking.Overall it was okay. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. The steak was kinda dry and could have used more sauce. We asked for more and they gave us a few tablespoons of extra sauce for $2.50 which is... interesting... and price was unannounced, but we didn't bring it up. Fish was under seasoned (bland), but the shrimp mango salad was good.Water is refilled quickly. Our server declined to make any other type of small talk. The level of service was noticable to us and I was surprised. At other similar restaurants we have rated, the servers are attentive and friendly. For example they usually explain menu items, give recommendations if asked, comment on how our night has been, our relationship status, any special occasions etc. However at Brix and Mortar there wasn't any of the friendly banter or service. Especially considering that it's Valentine's Day ... It's low bearing fruit to achieve a higher rating service wise. I don't think server ever introduced her name. The manager was good and rotated through the tables.Food came extremely fast. Set menu was $80 per person, additionally we had 2 cocktails and 2 champagne*. Cocktails were not the flavours I expected. Champagne was a little flat. There was a mix up with reservation where the reservation we made was *taken* by someone else with the same name. It's not that^ client's fault since he couldn't have book himself in, so it was probably a miscommunication with scheduling staff where staff misunderstood that^ client calling to book as calling to confirm appointment and gave them our reservation by mistake. All good in the end as both parties got to dine and our *champagne was compensated.Food: 3/5Service: 3/5Atmosphere and decor or courtyard 5/5
Amazing meal and beautiful atmosphere in the courtyard!
This place really surprised me! I love that they use the 100 mile diet. All ingredients come from local farms within 100 miles! They have such a beautiful liquor wall with a fantastic cocktail list. Don’t drink? They do custom mocktails based on your desired palette. Their menu changes based on the season for the most freshest in season ingredients.
This place is TOP NOTCH!!Everything from the welcome to dessert was spot on. Food is delicious.Make it a special night and book a table here. It's a really romantic place to boot if you're looking for an anniversary meal.
Got the $48 Dine Out combo with pork belly salad (that’s lowkey more like bacon), pork chop, and hazelnut panna cotta!! The pork chop was ??????????. Even though we sat in the patio the heating system was pretty good to keep us comfortable. Not a bad meal at all, just not to my personal likings ?
Their service is amazing. Even when the restaurant is packed, servers are very attentive and impressive. One of the best focaccia and mashed potato I've ever had and A+ beef tenderloin. Halibut was overcooked but it happens. I would definitely go back.
