Our 54 anniversary dinner was only so so. We did receive a card placed on our table acknowledging we were celebrating a anniversary but that was the extent of the service. Don't get me wrong the service was antiquate but nothing above what you would expect from a restaurant with their reputation. The food for the most part was fine, we tried several items spread out over the menu. My main was a small steak requested rare, it came on the cool side of medium rare, okay but the sear tasted burnt and affected the taste of the meat, I don't know what the use for heat but it tasted like what an electric unit would leave. On a scale of 1-10 only a 5 at best. The presentation on all food delivered was nice. On the drink side my Old Fashion was an 8 and my wife's Apreol Spritz was an 9. The waiter did an above average job but no acknowledgement after dessert and paying the bill of thank you for spending your special day with us.
Return trip after several years. Always very popular so make reservations in advance. Large variety of excellent seafood dishes and high quality meats. Wine choices are huge with some very expensive bottles.
We were at the raw bar and it was an incredible joy to watch the sushi masters prepare the insanely fresh fish. The sushi tasted just perfect, as did the Seafood Tasting for Two platter. If you are looking for the best seafood place in Vancouver you have to come here. It is the best. We have never had such delicious sushi. We really liked the atmosphere and ambiance, even though it was crazy crowded and a bit noisy. If we are in Vancouver again we will definitely come back. The Blue Water Cafe alone is a reason to travel from Germany to Vancouver again. With the quality that is offered here, the price-performance ratio is absolutely fine.
Vancouver literally means seafood (ok, maybe not...you got me), so since we last visited pre-COVID we had to try VC’s best. We were not disappointed. We went all in, with tasty cocktails, solid apps like the tartar, and one of the better sablefish I’ve ever had. The room is busy but well appointed. Our server was a pro. Yes, this place is not cheap. And no, it is probably not the best value we’ve ever had in a high-end fish place. I would return, but not in any big rush. There is so much good food in Vancouver a quick return is not likely. But our meal was good and there were no disappointments.
Outstanding food and service. I’m impressed! The waitress had great knowledge of the menu and explained everything thoroughly. Food came quickly, tasted fresh and delicious. Looks like the seafood tower is very popular so I will definitely try it next time
This is our second visit (we live in Dallas) to Vancouver and this restaurant. A few days ago, we dined at their sister restaurant in Whistler, Araxi. Both outstanding in food and service. We had a very knowledgeable and attentive server. My husband wanted to come back for "the best scallops I've ever had". I had the shellfish plateau. The seafood was so fresh and sweet. Loved the sauces and the jellyfish was well-seasoned and crunchy!
Now that Michelin has started to explore restaurants in Toronto, they should expand to the wonderful city of Vancouver as well. We are New Yorkers with a lot of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, and rarely have we had a seafood dinner as amazing as the one we had here tonight. The restaurant is stylish without being formal, the waiters friendly and efficient. A dynamite sushi roll was well named: dynamite. The seafood sampler for two comprised four superlative stacked dishes: a scallop and shrimp seviche, a Dungeness crab and shrimp salad, tuna tartare, and smoked salmon with a creamy horseradish sauce. Unbelievably fresh ingredients, elegantly presented and prepared with no mean skill. Then wonderful sablefish and seared tuna entrees. This is a great place.
Went here a few years back for our wedding anniversary. Overall the atmosphere was nice (we sat outside), the food was delicious and well presented but I wouldn’t say it was the best seafood restaurant we’ve been to for that price range.Having said that, we would definitely come back to try something else on the menu.I would still recommend this spot for a nice dinner out.
This is the place to go if you want a good consistent meal. Or you have friends in town visiting and you want to impress them. One of the few spots in town that can handle 2 large private parties, a full dining room, and still not force you to get a set menu with a party of 8 and more. There is a reason why Blue water does so well! Compliments to the amazing team.
