This is a revised downgraded review for lack of consistency on my second visit. Original: The food here was unexpectedly fantastic. I ordered the Thursday special Assam Seafood Curry and it was surprisingly good. A good balance of Seafood including fish, mussels, shrimp, squid and scallops mixed together with vegetables such as okra and aubergine. For a special and such balanced nutrition i thought the Thursday special was amazing. I might go every Thursday. The customer service was also very good.
You saved my evening! I was feeling hungry and cold, wandering around the Robson street when I saw you! Tastu, delicious food and excellent service!! Thank you ?
We were impressed with the attentive and gentle demeanour of all of the staff, made us feel very welcomed. The dishes were very tasty and good portions save for the beef rendang which I thought was a tad on the dry side, not as tender as I would have liked but the spicing was nice. Will be back to enjoy the fare!
Took my girlfriend here last night. First time for both of us. I ordered the chicken curry with coconut rice and she had the mee goreng. Both dishes were fantastic! I'm a fast eater, but tried to eat as slow as I can so I could enjoy the meal. The quality and taste of the food was great, fair price, and the portions were very filling. Staff was great too. We will be coming back!
Food is not bad in terms of quality. However, the taste is not authentic. We got the Beef Rendang, Singapore Laksa, and Tofu Goreng. Only the Rendang remotely tastes similar to what is served in Malaysia / Singapore. The Laksa is more like a Curry Bee Hoon with Sliced Fish Cake, Prawns, and Sliced Boiled Egg.
Excellent Kuew Teow, Rendang and Laksa!!! I was able to get my malay food fix in Vancouver. This place is great!
Really enjoyed the food and portion here. I specifically came for the roti canai as I had a craving for it and it didn't disappoint.Covid measures were in place. It was easy to spot the restaurant and I found it to be clean too. Staff were friendly. Overall I had a good experience and I really enjoyed my meal.
The food was delicious. We got the 7 course meal for two people. This was a lot for two people. We couldnt finish all the food.
Couldn’t get into any restaurants last minute in this area and thank goodness, Banana Leaf took us walk-ins and we were starving. We were greeted right away and were given physical menus. We decided to order the tasting menu with 9 courses. It was $35 per person and it was just my husband and I. Totally worth the money, I highly recommend! The tasting menu was a good mix of meat, seafood and vegetables. We left the restaurant with a happy, full belly.Don’t recommend the cocktails, they did not taste good at all. The bartenders there do not know how to make a good cocktail.Cash/credit cards accepted.
The service here is consistently excellent and one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Vancouver. Having lived in Singapore before and a fan of Singaporean cuisine, the food served here is excellent even though there are some twists to classicSingaporean dishes. In particular, the laksa served here is one of the best I have I have had globally. The prices are also on the lower end, especially given the quantity and the daily specials. I look forward to visiting this restaurant regularly and having a taste of Singapore 8,000 miles away.
