I would give Bacchus a 2/5 for the disrespectful service from the hostess of seating me and my partner in the farthest back corner of the restaurant beside the exit to the washroom doors. We made reservations and were appalled at the placement. We were able to move to the upper tier, close to the piano, which was 1000% better, but why were we not placed there initially? This still behooves me to this day. We were there for evening dinner and through the duration of our meal, no one sat it the far back corner beside the exit to the washroom. Disrespectful.Overall the dinner service was as expected. The food get a 4/5The maple ginger butternut squash soup was the best part of the night. How sad that the appetizer was the highlight of the evening for a highly rated restaurant in Downtown Vancouver. Anywho, it was delicious, the toasted pumpkin added a delicious toasty flavour, I would return just for the soup. The yellow tail king fish crudo was good. The pan roasted Yarrow Meadows Duck breast was tasty but got too salty the more I ate, and was not memorable. The reversed seared Alberta AAA beef tenderloin was filling and my partner enjoyed it.
Came for lunch on a Thursday. We were seated promptly as we had reservations. The lounge wasn't very busy but people kept coming in and out. Service was really good as they were very accommodating to our requests. But it took awhile for them to take our orders which prolonged our lunch.I had the espresso martini and I didn't really think the coffee was strong enough. I had the foie gras parfait as an appetizer and it was definitely the highlight of the whole meal. My biggest disappointment with this dish is that the slices of toast were too small for the amount of pate provided. I had to take some bread from the bread basket to finish it off and I was already piling it on. The jelly on top helped cut the greasiness of the dish. I didn't really think the canned orange was necessary for the fish.I had the burger with Cobb salad as my main. The burger was pretty thick and has a lot of onions in it so be warned. The onions and tomatoes were really fresh. The biggest issue I had with this dish was that the patty (very thick) was too dry. It was cooked all the way which I don't mind but it was just dry. The bun was okay but I would have preferred a milk based brioche bun. The Cobb salad was okay. I failed to realize that it was a blue cheese sauce. I personally don't like blue cheese but the blue cheese here wasn't too strong (unless you bite into the pieces of blue cheese). There was also a bit too much sauce for me.We had three desserts to share - sticky toffee pudding, Japanese chocolate souffle and chocolate banana Dome. All of the dessert were on the sweeter side so be warned. The sticky toffee pudding was really soft and served warm with a vanilla ice cream. I think I tasted bites of dates in there but I could be wrong. The added popcorn have it that crunch and also made it visually appealing. The popcorn tasted a bit stale. Would have liked it if the caramel popcorn was a bit cruncher. The Japanese chocolate souffle wasn't really a chocolate souffle it was more like a chocolate ganache. Very rich and dense. I liked the balance that the sour ice cream gave it. But the yellow sauce on the bottom didn't add anything to the dessert other than a visually component. The banana Dome was the least appealing visually. It was the least sweet of all the desserts. I liked the crunchy praline on the outside. You can taste the chocolate and the banana in this dish. The textures of this dessert was really good and well balanced.Overall, would recommend the parfait along with a drink (maybe a wine) and a salad. They use decent produce and the service is pretty relaxed. Nice place to hangout for the atmosphere and service.
We enjoyed a cocktail in the lounge before heading into the restaurant for dinner...staff in both the lounge and restaurant were very attentive and friendly. Excellent duck and chicken dinners. Many wishes from the staff for our 45th anniversary and a complimentary sweet at the end. Yummy breakfast next morning with a fruit and granola parfait and croissants and muffins.
Superb service from Betty and the other staff. We had breakfast here and they were very attentive, yet not intrusive. We didn’t want a big breakfast, so we opted to split the omelette, which was great for us.
The food is always delicious! For dinner I ask for a wine pairing which provides a unique wonderful wine choice. The staff are friendly & helpful. Love this spot & I make sure to have dinner here every time I visit Vancouver!
Bacchus was beyond breathtaking. Upon reading to the menu, there were too many items that were unique to my palate to decide what I wanted. It was my birthday dinner and our wonderful waiter pretty much suggested all of the items we ended up getting. Don't question this place. Just go. Trust me. (Side note. They informed me they will be changing the menu for Spring so I will be going back to give another review on the new menu)
Came for dine out and ordered the duck rillette, poached salmon & sable for dessert. We also ordered the toffee pudding in addition. I really liked the duck rillette, but I honestly thought the salmon looked a little undercooked and that turned me off. It tasted fine but it just didn't look right in the middle. I found the sable hard and not that flavorful - I know it's just a cookie but I didn't like the other dessert option so I had to go with it. The pudding was not amazing either. The vibe is very nice, obviously, it's kind of fancy and romantic/intimate and there's a piano player and the bathrooms are very pretty and bright. So maybe if I were to ever return, I would just have drinks and not food.
Atmosphere, amazing. Food and drinks, amazing. Service and quality, amazing. My boyfriend and I had our 5 year anniversary dinner here on a Sunday night and the setting was perfect in the lounge. Candle light, live piano music, quaint little table, it was ambience bliss. Thank you for a perfect evening.
Exquisite European gourmet cuisine and mouth-watering Dine Out Vancouver 2022 3-course dinner menu! Definitely one of Vancouver's most elegant, sophisticate and romantic restaurants with beautiful classical Venetian interior decor, lovely live piano music entertainment, ornate fireplaces and spacious, comfortable dinning furnitures. Top notchwell-dressed, very skilled and quite attentive service staff!
The service is good, live music his very enjoyable. However, the food quality is average, desserts felt like factory food, steak was hard to chew and not prime parts. There are areas this restaurant could improve on.
